Last summer, Corey Lowe  took the initiative to reach out asking if we can grab lunch before entering his first year as a transfer student at University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business  (Go Bears!). During that lunch, he mentioned that networking was still a new territory for him. We later met again during one of my coffee roundtables at UC Berkeley (left). Corey's enthusiasm left an impression on me. A year later, I hired Corey for his first internship. He had the opportunity to present his summer work earlier this week (right). Excited to have him with us for the fall semester as well. I'm glad we got a chance to meet last summer. And for all the students and young professionals out there who might be shy at first with "networking" or just outreaching, I say: go for it.
