Please next time you apply for a job, make it about them not you Don't say " I'm great at this, I love doing that, I've lived here, I really enjoy things like X. I'm good because I can also do Z, I once got frustrated doing Q but found out I like M in the process" Say "You need people who can do Z and Y and P, and this is me, and here is evidence I'm great at that. You need someone who is like Z and X, like I am. You don't say you need someone who has this, but I've got it, and this is why it's likely what you need. The sad reality is that for 99% of roles, especially away from the top or in small companies, people are recruiting around a role, not a person. This is is wrong, but it is what it is.
