I still have the cross-body travel bag that I bought in #Juba , #SouthSudan in January of 2011, while I was helping lead a reporter training workshop for Voice of America . I'm surprised by how sturdy it still is. It's a good thing, too. I used it on Saturday, June 6 to report about the Washington, DC protests related to the murder of #GeorgeFloyd . I wrote a story about the protests for National Geographic , and also posted on my Twitter and Instagram feeds too. (@RJConsults and Rachella55) Getting back to my journalistic roots by covering the DC demonstrations managed to challenge, inspire, and sustain me all at once. I knew #America could be better than what it has looked like to the rest of the world lately, and yesterday was the proof. I have hope again.
