Yes, I'm African American, but I've met so many strong, brilliant, dynamic African women in my life. Women who are making significant contributions to #globaldevelopment issues in their countries. I'm convinced that we need more African women in leadership roles at the policy and implementation levels--women like Damaris Matoke-Muhia . I met Damaris last month at The Aspen Institute New Voices Fellowship training in Nairobi, and her vision and focus about #malaria research and #publichealth is unwavering. In her role as a Senior research scientist for the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and Director of capacity Building, Gender Mainstreaming, and Career Progression for the (PAMCA) Pan African Mosquito Control Association , Damaris sees firsthand the power of women in ensuring good health in their families and communities.
