For #ThrowbackThursday , I spent much of the last day of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation #GrandChallenges 2019 conference supporting Nation Media Group journalist Elizabeth Merab as she prepped for an interview with the Director of The National Institutes of Health , Francis Collins. Elizabeth is a top #health and #sciencejournalist in #Kenya , and the opportunity to produce a Q&A feature for #NMG 's #EastAfrican newsweekly immediately vaults her to the top ranks of research reporters on the continent. But she also gave me an incredible gift after the interview ended. Elizabeth said she might not have pursued the interview if I hadn't nagged her into doing it! Sometimes, being a good mentor means being a bit overbearing and pushy! But when it comes to someone like Elizabeth, the effort is worth it.
