Congratulations to Dr. Joia Crear-Perry, MD , Founder and President of the National Birth Equity Collaborative for being named a "Maternal Health Visionary" by the The Maternal Health Task Force ( #MHTF10 ), a project of the Women and Health Initiative at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health . Dr. Crear-Perry has addressed the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights ( UNOCHA ) in order to push for a #humanrights framework to improve the dire global statistics around #maternalmortality , She has served as the Executive Director of the Birthing Project USA , Director of Women's and Children's Services at Jefferson Community Healthcare Center and as Director of Clinical Services for the City of New Orleans Health Department. Dr. Crear-Perry also serves as an advisory committee member of the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, a Black women-led, cross-sectoral alliance that empowers Black mothers to advocate, drive research, build power and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights and justice.
