Thriving in the face of ignorance and hatred is the best defense these days. It was my distinct honor to meet and interview Washington, #DC Mayor Muriel Bowser today, and I must confess, I got emotional on the way out of her office. That this accomplished, dynamic Black woman is at the helm of this great city, poised and ready to defend free speech, but vowing to rebuke violence and intolerance, gave me an enormous sense of comfort and fortitude.
