I am delighted to be associated with this gender diversity initiative by the CFA Institute India to create awareness about, instil interest in and enable women, from ANY educational background, to view the investment management industry as a viable long-term career option. I didn't get a chance to attend college, having to complete my BA in English Literature and Economics by correspondence. I was interested in finance enough to join a part time Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investments course in Australia, where I proceeded to walk up to a lot of the lecturers and grill them about career options. After two years of study and asking questions, I finally got my first paying job in the industry.
