I bought a 1990s word processor without an internet connection to stay focused while writing. However, whenever I sat down to write, I found myself glancing at the bookshelf and reading books unrelated to my work. Somehow, I kept getting distracted; even without the tech that I thought was the source of the issue. Removing online technology didn’t work. I’d just replace one distraction with another. I discovered that living the life we want requires not only doing the right things, it also requires not doing the wrong things. We all know eating cake is worse for our waistline than having a healthy salad. We understand that if we want to be more productive, we need to stop wasting time and actually do the work. We know what to do, but don’t know how to stop getting distracted.
