I first met Govind Rajan when he was at Freecharge. Whenever I had a question on a payments opportunity, he was my first call. Over the years whenever we met, we had freewheeling discussions on a variety of topics, and then we would suddenly realize how much time had gone by and neither of us had noticed. I always came away intellectually stimulated. I also realised how much Govind listened and his sensitive nature. He came over to the office to give me a gift. He didn’t owe me a thank you or a gift. It was simply for the joy of giving and sharing. He had remembered our conversation about the Salar Jung museum and miniature paintings and the lives of artists. So, Govind showed up with a framed miniature painting for me, just because he knew I would cherish it. Extremely saddened to hear about Govind's sudden passing. I am shocked that he is no more. He was always enthusiastic about #startups and always willing to give his time and support. We hadn’t spoken in 6 months atleast. In fact, it had crossed my mind I should check-in.
