If someone offered you $200K, would you use that as seed capital for your startup or use that to pay for an MBA at Harvard? I believe that there is no right or wrong answer to this and it totally depends on a person's current situation and long-term goals. There pros and cons to both options. 1. Starting a company is like jumping off a cliff and assembling a plane on the way down, according to Reid Hoffman. I agree with his analogy. Starting up is hard and too many wrong moves in a row can lead to a crash landing. But many well-executed moves and your startup can soar and succeed. Some people are ok with ambiguity and can thrive in these high risk, high reward environments. 2. Getting an MBA can be compared to spending time sharpening an axe before going to cut a tree. An MBA can help you get a theoretical understanding of business concepts and how to approach situations. But the proof of the pudding is still in execution.
