When we think of #pioneers , inventors, we think of them mostly as men. But history is replete with bold women who break the mold. Bertha Benz is one of them, in none other than the Automobile industry. Historically, the #automotiveindustry has been driven by men. Mary Barra became the first female CEO of General Motors . But Bertha Benz was a woman who defied convention then and today. Her husband, Karl Benz, was the inventor. She was the #Investor ! She firmly believed in an automobile's opportunity when it was never considered a means of transportation. She was the business partner and also held the Patent rights though her name as a woman was not allowed on it. She was the first person to drive an automobile over a long distance ever (5 August 1888), rigorously field testing the patent Motorwagen, inventing brake pads, and solving several practical issues during the 65 miles (105 km) trip. She brought the Benz Patent-Motorwagen worldwide attention and got the company its first sales. Karl Benz wrote the following in his memoirs: "Only one person remained with me in the small ship of life when it seemed destined to sink. That was my wife.
