Last week I invited responses to the Twitter poll, ' Keeping funding aside, what is the biggest reason behind the success of #startups ?' 66% voted for Team/ Execution and 17% voted for the Timing of the idea launch. This TedTalk video mentions that it is not only important to have a great team which executes the idea, but the idea itself should not be ahead or behind its time. An example from the #Indian startup ecosystem is Myntra. Prior to foraying into fashion, Myntra was a platform for personalised merchandise. While the team and execution were fantastic, the concept of personalised merchandise in India, was ahead of its time.
