Don't be ignorant with these THREE supportive things to say to high-risk community members and differently-abled team members. With chronic illness and disability, obstacles are inevitable, but tossing a global panedemic into the mix of already challenged, high-risk community members continues to build a divide. So instead of saying... "I understand, my [mother / grandmother / second cousin's dog] had [insert disease]" Say... "You must have a lot on your plate, would you like to tell me more?" Or... "Wow, I cannot imagine. How can I best support you?" By... 1) Displaying empathy 2) Verbalizing support And 3) Asking questions You can build a safe and inclusive environment for your friends, family, and employees to feel valued and heard. We are more than meets the eye. ALL of us! And we ALL have a part to play in building a prosperous world built on compassion and ambition.
