With one look at me, a guy in the front row wrote me off before I even had a chance to begin my presentation. He leaned back in his chair, started twirling his short hair and scanned me from root to petal with a condescending smile, shaking his head. And I loved it. #ChallengeAccepted When he started heckling me, he made the unconscious bias apparent to everyone else in the workshop. "Why should I listen to someone like you?" He said. The audience was humiliated on his behalf, smiling uncomfortably and speaking up to quiet him so I could take the floor. I love being challenged like this because it is a chance to discuss topics that seldom get surfaced. At the end of my workshop, many of the audience members kept asking how I got started speaking and what they should do to get more acquainted with public speaking and confrontation.
