I wrote this on my flight back from NYC ✈️ I’m sitting in a chair, in the air, on my way back from New York. Thinking back to the time where I had nothing. Imagining it vividly. The creek in my door. The rotting 2x4’s. My dog waiting for me on the couch when I got home from the coffee shop I always worked out of. Trying to make it. Heart broken. Lonely. I never had money for groceries. I never had money for anything. I remember one of the times my power was off for weeks. My phone was turned off. Couldn’t pay the bills. And there was a back porch that I would always stand on. Summer, spring, fall, winter… didn’t matter. I stood there. Looking up at the buildings. Imagining a better life. Imagining the person that I would become. Imagining what that life would feel like. Sound like. Look like. Taste like. And here I am… sitting in a chair… in the air. Looking down on one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And I’m exactly the person I wished to be. I’m living the exact life I wished to live. It feels the same. Looks the same. Tastes the same. And as I look down on the world. Feeling small.
