I messed up. I'm a big company culture geek. And we talked a lot about building a culture within our company that allowed everyone to be open and honest with one another. I pushed it every day and yet it still wasn’t happening for everyone. I read the culture code recently, which dissects some of the most successful teams, companies, and organizations across history and the globe. And one commonality that was found is that each culture had a sense of safety. And I realized that we were clear on the type of culture that we wanted to create. But we weren’t fostering an environment that allowed that open & honesty to happen. We were talking but we weren’t listening to everyone. And since making some adjustments it is no longer an issue. But that’s the thing about culture, you can’t just write down your values and expect things to happen.
