I just had my second TEDx curation meeting for the talk I'm giving next year. One of the first things I told them was, "I'm in a bit of an existential crisis right now." I don't want to be motivational. I don't want to have a traditional story. One of the curators told me, "even just listening to you just now I felt motivated. And hearing you talk about your subject I was inspired." And it made me realize that 1). it's okay to be motivational. 2). I was once a person that needed to someone to show them the way. And to neglect that would be to neglect the people that are walking in the same shoes I once was. It's not our job to decide what people take away from what we share. But it is our job to share. One of my favorite movies is 'Remember Me'. And there's an awesome quote that goes something like this: There will be times when we feel insignificant. Times when we are told we are insignificant. But it's still important that we take action, because we are always causing ripples in the universe whether we realize it or not. (with my own spin).
