Perhaps the most perilous career on earth is that of the professional ballet dancer. There are only a handful of companies on earth, you train from childhood for a position in the corps de ballet where you are paid almost nothing. Then if you are incredibly talented and lucky you become a soloist and maybe .01% make it to a principal position. Then you turn 35 and you too old and you are cast out as a has been.
