Curious about how I got my start with LinkedIn video? In honor of #TBT , I went through my archives to find my VERY FIRST #video on LinkedIn, which I published an eternity ago (July 28, 2017, to be exact). I’m sharing it* here. Why bother? Because its message is still relevant today. Even though somehow I had been granted early access to video, I procrastinated for three weeks(!) before publishing. I remember feeling so nervous about putting myself out there, worried that I needed the perfect message, the perfect lighting, the perfect WHATEVER. And then it occurred to me that none of us is perfect and that maybe, just maybe, THAT message would speak to people, and inspire THEM to try new things, whatever that meant to them. (Spoiler alert: It did, and it has. And I couldn’t be happier.) Here’s the thing: you can’t grow unless you’re willing to be (temporarily) uncomfortable. #Change is hard. And taking the first step is the hardest. If you wait for the “perfect” time, you’ll never do it. Instead, take a deep breath, muster up your courage to push past the fear, and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. You’ve got this. Now’s the time.
