Out of curiosity, I decided to dive into the database of Pubmed.com to see how many studies have mentioned machine or deep learning technologies in the last decade. It seems we have an almost exponential boom of such studies in medicine and healthcare. As of today, there are already more studies in 2019 than last year. I also looked into which medical specialties are featured more in such papers and there is no surprise that oncology, pathology and radiology stand out. During this A.I. boom, it's especially important to understand the context and the underlying changes around A.I.'s role in the future of healthcare.
