The NBER Digest is a great way to stay updated on some of the latest research by leading economists. The June edition has two articles that I found particularly interesting. The lead article looks at research on how to better balance lives and livelihoods in this life-with-COVID phase. A recent paper suggests that, relative to a lockdown (and if socio-politically feasible), "semi-targeted" approaches could safe more lives AND reduce economic losses. The second article summarizes work on whether markets' faith in the "Fed Put" is consistent with the Federal Reserve's reactions to market downturns.
