Per the Dow chart shown below, US stocks took a notable leg up on the news that the Federal Reserve would "begin buying a broad and diversified portfolio of corporate bonds to support market liquidity and the availability of credit for large employers" (link below) . With record issuance at low spreads, it's hard to argue this is needed without resorting to a non-verifiable counter-factual.
