I left my first job last week. It’s made me realize how much of our identities we tie up in what we do. Lots of people have told me in this time period “you aren’t your job.” But I partially disagree. I am the intersection of my identities. I am a sister and a daughter and friend, BUT I am also the work I do and the impact I make on others.
