This Buzz Aldrin first-ever “space selfie,” taken with a camera much larger than a cell phone, is expected to fetch upwards of $66,000 at auction.

I think this is a rather brilliant move by Instagram . It is an experience designed for how most people actually consume video on their mobile phones already (yeah, I know some of us still rotate for horizontal).  It may be a bit of gamble to ask creators to shoot twice or choose between it and YouTube , but a totally worthy experiment because the potential payout for Instagram is huge. Want to also point out, this paves the way for Instagram to either create or partner with studios to create, originals which could challenge Netflix but in a native, vertical format. “Twitter says it will allow ads with messages about issues such as civil engagement, the economy, the environment, and social equity, but they can’t advocate for or against a specific political, judicial, legislative, or regulatory outcome related to those matters. Basically, advertisers can talk about those topics, but they can’t push a specific result on them. So a group, for example, could put out an ad warning against the dangers of climate change, but it presumably can’t encourage the passage of the Green New Deal, or direct people to a candidate’s homepage.” …see more

I'm not in the habit of writing reviews of fictional pieces, but this one hit a nerve. Netflix's new series, Girlboss, which is loosely based on Sophia Amoruso, could have been a powerful story that showcased her incredible entrepreneurial rollercoaster ride with Nasty Gal. Instead, the show perpetuates negative stereotypes about women, the worst being their depiction of Women in Tech - awkward, drab, timid. It certainly doesn't help shift perceptions of STEM for young women when pop culture entertainment does things like this - oh, and this was created and produced by a largely female team. …see more
