For those working with students/clients of all ages and stages, this is a tool that helps folks identify their feelings -- both positive and negative. It has an explanation developed with Dr. Ed Wang on how The Feeling Alphabet works and why it works and then a myriad of activities. It is priced right: $4.99. There are two ways to get the download and it is cheaper to download several copies than print color copies! We are trying to make it affordable. Every student could download it at home! A resource. Here's how to order: (1) Go to https://lnkd.in/eaWQeJ6 and see tab labeled books at the top. Under that, The Feeling Alphabet Activity Set Appears. Hit the tab and download. (2) Go to this site and download. https://https ://lnkd.in/eC55eKA. Comments welcome on the product and its use. We are planning to conduct online fora for feedback and update the Activity Set with suggestions and drawings and ideas at a later date. So, it is a shared project and students and adults can improve the alphabet. For real. P.S. The Cover is an activity too. Guess what one can do related to the cover? …see more

2019 will be an interesting year in terms of tech worker power following a successful year shutting down two huge Google projects and protests at other large companies. "What will the tech workers think?" now has to be added to every major decision within tech companies -- it's an unofficial sharing of power. Tech workers are interested in peace, love and understanding and they want ethical leadership. If it is lacking then they will become the leaders. That's what happened at Google in 2018 when it dropped its motto: "Don't Be Evil" -- its workers picked it up and kept it going. https://t.co/vuZLB1DIC3 #techpower , #techindustry , …see more

"Typically you know as a kid, or even an adult, where you’re sleeping tonight but when you are in the care system, and in prison as well, you can get moved overnight with no notice at all. So life becomes uncertain and you get used to that uncertainty. I think for most people, they avoid uncertainty but with a tech startup you don’t get much more uncertain than that so you learn to live with it. It just doesn’t faze you — you are comfortable with uncertainty." Duane Jackson https://lnkd.in/dGcXr-e #startup #entrepreneur #tech #inspiration …see more

So, with the holiday's approaching, I have been paying attention to how merchants sell their goods. I notice the sales they offer and the ads they produce, including some that prove controversial. My children's books are, of course, "goods" but I think of them as delivering education. Add to that: I see them as a service not merchandise. They are meant to be read to and with children. They combine learning with good, fun, warm and engaging stories. They are meant to be read and re-read. I was delighted that the most recent book in the Lady Lucy series, Lady Lucy's Ghost Quest, was featured in a holiday guide of books that kids will enjoy. Visit themommiesreviews.com to see all the books listed there. And I think it will appear in another guide shortly. Bottom line, as an educator, I get "selling" but I prefer to think that what I am doing is "selling" imagination and a love of reading and an appreciation for stories and words. At the end of the day, I hope what I sell is valuable....and something that will engage for months and even years. By the by, I like goods. It is just that I like services too. …see more

Governments can stop anti-trust violations but they cannot stop the fundamental nature of Internet economics which will eventually disrupt hundreds of thousands of companies as speed-to-scale is rewarded over innovation. Silicon Valley becomes much less interesting when that happens — and it is happening. …see more
