Born in 1996, I sit on the cusp of Millennials and Gen Z. I remember 9/11, but I can’t remember what it was like to have a cell phone without data. As a Gen Z-er, I focus on saving money as much as possible. But when I do spend, I spend it like a Millennial (i.e. on experiences). I am sitting at a WorldZ session led by Viacom, and I can’t help but think about how weird it is to hear people of another generation name and define my generation. As a marketer, I totally understand wanting to target audiences. But what I notice from these kinds of talks are the lack of Gen Z people in the room, contributing to the conversation about what they are like. I am so curious as to how the conversation about Gen Z will change once younger people start actively participating in the conversation. #marketing #genz #millennials #targetaudience #generationaldifferences
