Despite the production cut, WTI oil is back below $20. Illustrates markets' concern about declining global demand. “To me, the American Dream is being able to follow your own personal calling. To be able to do what you want to do is incredible freedom.” - Maya Lin Adding to Maya Lin's quote, the American Dream to me is about resilience, imagining the impossibility, and giving back. The resilience to keep pushing forward despite setbacks and challenges. The opportunity to imagine your wildest dream and actually making that dream a reality. Most importantly, it's about remembering your roots and paying it forward once you make it. My family and I first immigrated to America nearly two decades ago. Given my our financial situation and limited resources growing up, I could have never imagined myself attending a top public university like University of California, Berkeley or even starting my own company in the heart of Silicon Valley. Or even the audacity to envision myself making it to the Forbes list. From an immigrant to a college grad to a storyteller to an entrepreneur, community pollinator, and mentor today. That’s the definition of my ever evolving American Dream. Happy the 4th from the Blue App  and Elon the Corgi! I hope everyone had a restful day with family and enjoyed lots of fireworks! 🎆 …see more

Darkness. Fears. What keeps you up at night? You know it's a GREAT podcast when the host catches you off guard with a question that hits like slapshot straight to the stomach in street hockey... I had an amazing conversation with Scott A. Weiss as we talked about our entrepreneurial parents and our hunger for success. He asked me about the darkness in my life. What keeps me up at night? And it's really the thought of NOT living in this LIFE. Living with an unpredictable, incurable disease is only half the fight... the other is dealing with the side effects of the medications such as heart attack, blindness and more that can loom over your head like a dark shadow of grief. But we ALL have fears that poke at us when the world grows quiet and we sit alone with our thoughts. It doesn't have to be illness or disability. It can be loneliness, insecurities, financial instability, and more! What are your career fears and what are you doing to work through them? Some incredible people I've met these past few days thanks to similar interests in business, health, and inclusion include Aleks Vorobets , Greg Steffine , Amy Temple , Brandi Kelley , and Alyssa Dichraff . Good morning. A snapshot of markets' performance in January 2021, and how it compares to 2020 as a whole. Needless to say, these numbers hide some pretty notable moves -- be it over the month (e.g., the 4ish percentage points reversal in US indices in late Jan) or within markets (e.g., GameStop). #markets #stocks #economy #trading #equities #investing #economy2020 #gold #fx #investors …see more

This was spotted downtime today on the door of a small business. The pain and suffering facing such small businesses and their employees are intense; and, unfortunately, the situation will get more so the longer ... Congress disagrees on the relief bill; Individuals don't re-align their risk assessment more closely with that facing society as a whole; Guidance remains mixed; and We, individually and collectively, do not assume greater responsibility in wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing our hands, etc... The bottom line is that a process of healthy re-opening is still possible. But it gets harder the longer it takes to deal with the existing slippages. …see more

Develop a routine for common tasks so that your brain can automatically repeat it with minimal input by you. Once the routine is established, it is interpreted by your brain as a pattern. These patterns, through frequent use, become hardwired into your brain. And the more you use a pattern, the less attention you will need to pay to doing this task. Thus, freeing up mental bandwidth for ideation.

Networking used to feel like a wet blanket. It was uncomfortable and I had no idea what I was doing. Raised to be humble, the objective of you selling yourself to a stranger felt unnatural and slimy... Have you ever felt that way? Well, I've learned to MASTER the pitch and dazzle, ditching social anxiety, and nervous triggers. At first, I used the buddy system... But then I realized I was just hanging out with them the entire time and not meeting anyone new! Then I went in, guns blazing, like everyone in the room was an old buddy... And they quickly became just that. *** Ready to launch that new brand with everything you've learned in the past 13 tips? Get networking! There is no better time than NOW to get on virtual networking calls via zoom and build real relationships! Find your nearest LinkedIn Local chapter and get going. The struggle, hustle, and grind are REAL! Goldman Sachs warned that the unemployment rate in the US may increase to 25%, the worst spike since the great depression. ☝Read that again. It's EASY to hurt and lose hope... But there is a light at the end of the tunnel... Here are 3 things to recognize: 👉We are more connected than ever before (thanks tech!) 👉There are so many free programs to level up at this time. 👉We are giving back and coming together as a community united. I am so thankful to be ABLE to give forward when many cannot, working with Carrie Bohlig 🎤 and Craig Clickner🎙 on a webinar next Wednesday, May 20th, teaching you HOW to use the tools you already have! Today officially marks 3+ years as a full-time entrepreneur. 🤯 Four of the more important lessons I've learned so far: ✅ Your network is everything. It's like caring for plants. You have to make sure you're nurturing old relationships while you're building new ones. ✅ You can grow as fast as you're willing to struggle for. In year 1 I barely ate, was late on nearly every one of my bills, had my power turned off a couple of times, and rented out my extra rooms to make rent. Year 2 I won WI 25 under 25. Year 3 I gave a TEDx talk, spoke at INBOUND, launched my latest company, and signed a contract to be on an Amazon Prime Docuseries. Be aggressive, but more importantly be patient. ✅ Figuring out what makes you unique & valuable will take you far. "It's good to be better, but it's better to be different." Starbucks wasn't the first coffee shop. But they succeeded because they offered a different experience. ✅ Create around your passions. Brand is everything. I create a lot of content here. And just about every other platform. But I recently launched an esports and video games podcast. It's made everything else that I'm doing better. What lessons have you learned? #justQ 🖖🏾🖤 #business #entrepreneurship 📸 Willie Morris …see more
