Never bring the bar down for anything you do. That's a slippery slope you never want to get on. Always think about: - How can you improve your product a notch, even if your product is awesome - How can you hire the next employee who will raise the bar, even if you already have the best talents in your company - How can you take that next step to help your team be better, even if you are already doing a lot …see more

You keep your phone always near, plus it's probably the most versatile object you've ever had. These make it the most powerful digital health device. You can already analyze skin lesions, detect Alzheimer's, sense oxygen saturation, and I haven't mentioned the variety of fitness apps. Nor its potentials in almost all areas of healthcare. Too many people are looking for complicated explanations to the 3-44% fall in US stock markets. I suspect the major driver is quite simple and has to do with the dynamic I've been posting about for the last week: In the run up to the end of a quarter that has featured large losses and illiquity, "fast money" buys/covers shorts ahead of re-balancing inflows at the end of the month ... and then immediately gets out/goes short at the very end of the month. Both the price action and the volumes shown below are consistent with this explanation. #markets #stocks #stockmarket #investmentmanagement #volatility #investing #selloff #equities #economy …see more

It's not eCommerce or mCommerce, it's just buying stuff in the modern world. The line we draw between online and offline is as arbitrary as talking about electronic and non electronic media. It may matter to us, but has no relevance for normal people.

I was lucky enough to see Patty McCord ( Author of the Netflix Culture Deck ) speak today. I always love what she says. Some quotes from her, that I think are wonderful, often these are little remarks of accidental genius she said in the Q&A. "Start with what’s possible and work backwards, not with what you make today & slowly improve" "Stop doing stuff that doesn’t matter" "Humans can hear anything if it’s true - it’s the spin that makes people crazy" "Be a great place ( company) to have come from, be the place that sets people up for life" "Values a company has are easy to fudge, instead also write down behaviors ( you expect to see to show them) " "Teach everyone how to read the P&L statement- They need to know how we make money" All came from Patty. I'm just putting them here not pretending they are mine. …see more

"Hard work is no longer a differentiator. It’s the barrier to entry. I believe over the next 10+ years the real differentiator will be sustainable mental health." Ran across this tweet from Jeremy Becker the other day, and I think it perfectly summed up how I believe our culture of "hustle harder" has negatively affected the competitive workplace. The number of times I have told myself "You can't put down your phone. You are replaceable. You have to work harder" has hit unhealthy levels in the past. What do you think? What do you think will be the differentiator for employees going forward? CC: Sam Park Angela H. Chen Joel Hansen Tiffany Parra Andrew Griffiths #corporateculture #mentalhealth #hardwork …see more

From Fortnite to Netflix, Minecraft to TikTok, we may have to face the reality that adblocking or "the death of TV" isn't the big threat to advertising, but that we increasingly spend our time on media that isn't ad funded. It's not a problem, but it's a challenge to be aware of. Especially the challenge of reaching people with enough money to pay for content and who just happen to be the most desirable customers in the world. …see more

When we predict the future, we tend only to be able to imagine one variable changing. It's why self driving cars of the future look oddly like cars do today. Cars today are designed around the cumulation of all frequent use cases, they are inherently COMPROMISED to not be terrible at anything people may want to do semi frequently. If cars are self driving, why would we park them? Why not use them when we are at work. So it's likely we don't own them, but we use them on a "pay as you go" basis. We will subscribe to them. If we don't own a car, we can switch from vehicle to vehicle based on what we need. So the design of cars will be OPTIMIZED for specific use cases. Most journeys may be slow urban pods fitting one people, others may be large minibuses for weekend trips.   Imagination is more important to future scenarios, than interpolating trend lines. …see more

I took a meeting the other day with a seasoned entrepreneur. "What was the moment that it all 'clicked' for you?" He asked me. And while things are going well and moving faster than they ever have, I don't think it will ever "click". Although a big moment for me was the moment people started paying attention. But not for the reason most people would think. I had created hundreds of videos and nobody really watched outside of on a platform that doesn't exist anymore (ask🐳). But I realized that I was the same person the day before anyone watched my stuff and the day they started to. And while I knew it – I finally felt it – you have to believe in you. And you have to work for you. And you have to have the discipline to invest in yourself every day. It's the small steps you take and the habits you build that will get you there. It's not often this magical moment. But when people start paying attention you have to be ready for it. When your dreams start coming true you have to be ready. And you have to be willing to earn it. #justQ 🖤 📸 Brema …see more
