The Economist joins others in going beyond just highlighting the big/growing disconnect between finance (Wall Street) and the real economy (Main Street) It rightly notes that this disconnect is "unsustainable" and, if left unchecked, will result in "a backlash against business." #economy #markets #economics #inequality #wallstreet #mainstreet …see more

You can get a lot of people rather easily in a meeting to agree that "Click Through Rates" are mainly entirely irrelevant to sales, that Net Promoter Score is a useless metric or that "Millennials" is a non existent and deeply unhelpful demographic. You can have discussions about how personalization shouldn't be the goal, but avoiding irrelevance. But give it 10 mins and you'll soon be hearing people talk about ways to sell to Millennials, increase CTR or NPS or do incredibly complex things to personalize. Why do we insist on reverting back to accepting common wisdom when we know it's wrong. …see more

After losing my vision, mobility, ability to feel my hands, feet, and legs, and traumatic seizures, 🧠neuroscience🧠 became an obsession of mine fueled by the desperation to recover and THRIVE. I thought I'd never be able to teach my son how to ice skate or dance with him on his wedding day. Walk the dogs? Swim? Keep dreaming! Treatments and medications, Nothing in western medicine seemed to help! So I started focusing on what I can CONTROL. Stress management, diet, sleep, and community. Your lifestyle has a SERIOUS impact on brain health. What you consume, Physical activity, Sleep habits, Stress management, Even the way you socialize is critical to your brain health! 🥗 Eat/Drink? Cut the crap! 😴Sleep? Enjoy eight hours. 🧘‍♀️Stress Management? Meditation, thought reframing and loads of gratitude. 👯‍♂️Socialization? I used to have social anxiety galore... but changing my perspective and letting strangers become friends was an absolute GAME CHANGER. Stop making up excuses! Start taking small steps to a healthy lifestyle. Some would give ANYTHING to have the ability to do what you can do... See Hear Run Swim Smell Taste FEEL Take advantage of it and be thankful. #Heal #PersonalGrowth #Neuroscience #Success #Leadership #Health #Disability #ChantelShares #Inspire …see more

I'm putting together an audio limited series on grief & I'm looking for people that want to participate. I lost my brother last year and this has been on my heart for a while. Pre-Covid I was working on a film but had to put everything on hold. It now feels like audio is more appropriate. The series will be mostly narrative based with three goals: - Educate - Provide space for grief - Shed a light on people's stories If you want to participate, send me your story. I won't be able to get back to everyone but I will try to read them all. If you're a good fit for the series I will send back a message with details. And to clarify: this is any type of grief. Loss of a loved one, relationship, job, etc. If you want an example of my work, I'll link my new podcast in the comments. It won't be the same format but it should give you an idea of my style. Appreciate you in advance! Feel free to share this with anyone that may be a good fit. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more

Congratulations to the Netherlands, which just got one step closer to patient empowerment! Bruno Bruins, the Dutch minister for medical care pledged 75 million EUR to make medical data available for all patients online - commenting: “With this €75 million grant I want to make it possible for patients to take control of their own medical data." A similar idea has already been implemented successfully in Denmark and Sweden, to the satisfaction of patients and caregivers alike - we wrote about such best practices recently, and I'm glad we can augment the list next time with this Dutch example! Over the last 10 years around $15 Trillion has been spent on Digital Transformation, and yet there are (perhaps) zero case studies of real success. Sure, websites have got prettier, companies have got better EPOS systems, better inventory management, more "data", but have we "Transformed" or improved. Almost all "Transformation" is simply keeping up with others, maintaining systems or making small incremental improvements. A key part of the issue is that the past holds us back, old systems form the bedrock of most companies, and nobody dare change a foundation that everybody understands "that" it works, but nobody understands "how" it works. Senior personnel in IT know that their value comes from knowing how to maintain what they have, from understanding where the skeletons are, from knowing old code, why would they become less valuable building something new? Legacy companies are basically a world of brick buildings, limited by the physics of bricks, built by bricklayers. Modern startups are engineers who build from steel and glass. It's a whole new world. Legacy companies won't get there without changing everything they do, the skills they have, and start building new, not seeking to renovate or decorate the old. When they get this, exciting things will happen fast. …see more

Nothing makes sense anymore. It seems that as a society we’ve given up on logic and rational thought I’ve spent a lot of time working my nuts off since about 2005 trying to figure out how the world is changing Not as a futurist but as a “now”ist. I’ve tried to figure out the changes that matter, the tech both to ignore and that will make a difference How behaviors and society will change. How businesses will alter. How to make money from new opportunities. I’ve been quite proud of my record. I’ve been published 700 times about the future and change, written a book, and stand by every single paragraph I’ve written I’ve spent months looking at data, talking to a variety of experts in public health, to statisticians, biophysicists, virologists, and even people in government and media What I failed to realize is that as a society, we are predictably irrational.Hanging on to the wrong decisions, sensationalizing and looking at events with an emotional lens When we look at government & the discourse & narratives that shape policies, we’ve been largely driven by status quo bias, confirmation bias, loss aversion, always seeking to reinforce the righteousness of our past decisions I’ve used logic.I presumed that we wanted perspective. I presumed that we wanted the best for the most …see more

I admit I have sales-phobia! BUT as a marketer, it is IMPERATIVE that I understand sales as thoroughly as possible in order to build the strongest marketing strategy possible. I always HATED sales. The selling side AND the buying side. The car dealership makes me break out into nervous hives and my stomach always flips going into T-Mobile. Being approached by friends in network marketing?! FORGET IT. I ghost like the worst friend ever. 👻 It was SO different as a girl scout selling sweet treats. 🍪 So I've been studying sales to kill this fear, understand the sales process, and amplify results. I'm finding that ABOVE ALL, it's critical to create an approachable, warm relationship before anything else. Here's a part of what I've been finding! I was specifically surprised to understand the best day of the week and time of day for correspondence... What do you think? What's one sales tip that changed the game for you?! Ready to take your personal brand to the next level? Message me and we'll get you leads that melt into your inbox like butter. But the pressure is on YOU to CLOSE THOSE SALES! #SocialSelling #DigitalMarketing #Sales #ChantelShares …see more

A couple months ago, I was speaking at an event that had a huge diversity in speakers' experience and was reminded of my imposter syndrome. When talking with some attendees before the event started, I sat and listened to one of the high-achieving attendees list out their accomplishments. It reminded me of when I first started and how much imposter syndrome I felt. I was constantly listing out my accomplishments to get a response from people and to feel like my invitation to speak was justified. It was one of the first times that I felt the impulse to compete on my accomplishments, and actively chose not to. It was a really interesting experience to be self-aware of how I was getting over my imposter syndrome. Have you dealt with imposter syndrome? If so, how did you find yourself getting out of it? #impostersyndrome #publicspeaking …see more

Bono stepped into the elevator of the hotel with four of his friends. I stepped towards the back. Last night I spoke at Scribd about the habits of billionaires. I wonder if they eat breakfast. I imagined my next taste of bacon. Mmmm. The three of us already in the elevator moved over and made room. Bono stood right next to me.. He said, "Let's all hold hands together and it will all be all right." Everyone laughed. I like how he turned the elevator crowd into a performance. That's an art form. I said to him, "No it won't." He turned to me and laughed. . . . . #writing #bono #scribd #lifestyle …see more
