So why do medical schools require students to learn the tricks of the trade from densely written books and PowerPoint presentations? Luckily, the advancement of technology brought in another dimension: virtual reality. So, we looked around to what extent VR as a three-dimensional teaching tool can support medical education. Let’s dive into virtual laparoscopy, simulated empathy, and co. …see more

We're on the edge of the realization that the very best people want companies to work around them, not fit into their processes and structures. It starts as a want, then a hope, then an expectation and then a demand. It won't happen quickly or painlessly, but it's inevitable. How companies embrace this will be key to their success or demise. …see more

Humans are pretty smart and all, but it's amazing it's 2020 & we've still not decided if Bi-weekly means twice a week or every 2 weeks. Just pick one and let's agree. Imagine if North could mean either North or South? Or up could mean up on down. Thinking about it more, having "Right" meaning correct, and not left is also an accident waiting to happen. …see more

How much to you learn from your job is a more interesting thought than how much you earn. Maximizing against learning the most will likely pay off far more significantly. For some people (and career types) leaving when you stop learning should be the best reason to change roles. Yet it seems to rarely work this way. …see more

According to Psychology Today, here are three science-backed reasons to love thyself! (Article Below)👇 1️⃣ Increase Strength... A change in attitude with improved self-compassion is linked with greater well-being as well as superior performance outcomes. 2️⃣ Increase Productivity... Self-criticism leads to painful and self-defeating emotions in the face of failure, Self-Compassion therefore embraces challenge. 3️⃣ Decrease Stress... Self-criticism activates the sympathetic nervous system and elevates stress hormones such as cortisol in our bloodstream. 💘 Journaling and meditation are excellent tools to work on self compassion! People won’t follow you if you don't know where you're going. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Clarity is everything. I'm the host of the Humans that Game podcast, an avid gamer and plan on investing an esports organization within the next few years. I'm obsessed with two games right now when it comes to story & community: Overwatch & Apex Legends. - People relate to the characters in the game and get excited to play them. - The companies do a great job of explaining their back stories and relating skills to player play-styles. - There are communities built around each of these games and their characters. It's similar with your personal brand. You need to know WHY people should follow you. You need to know what separates you from others, what resonates with the community that you're building, and you need to be able to effectively communicate your story. Just something to think about. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 #business #entrepreneurship …see more

Growing up it was my dream to live in NYC, overlook the city and write for a living. I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. I didn't even know what that word meant. I sold my services in video games when I was younger. I hustled for gigs as a musician. But "business" never really interested me. I'm 25. Black. And decided not to complete college. On paper no one would ever bet on me to succeed. Don't let anyone convince you that there is an ideal entrepreneur, or CEO, or professional (or fill in the blank with whatever you aspire to be). Success isn't about following someone else's path or fitting into the mold. It's about being who you are, making it work for you, & betting on yourself. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more

The your “working from home” so let’s pay you less debate is interesting. It shows how you think of salary. Is salary “compensation” for your time. It should be linked to what lifestyle you deserve to have in order for you to be committed and productive. So by moving somewhere cheaper you should really deserve the same things not greater, and should have pay reduced. Or is salary a recognition of the value you bring, and more akin to profit sharing , where it’s irrelevant to where you live or what your costs are. More likely for most companies salary is linked to a marketplace. You are cogs in machines to be compared with other cogs on the market. And the justification for choosing you over someone cheaper overseas was that we assumed your value came partially from being part of something in person Interesting times. Much more favorable for the unique or remarkable …see more

There are two kinds of work: “reactive” work and “reflective” work. Reactive work is addressing the pings, rings, and dings. It’s attending meetings, responding to emails, and taking phone calls. Most people’s days are filled to the brim with reactive work. It demands their attention and makes people feel productive. But we also need time for reflective work. Reflective work is where the problem-solving and creative work get done. It's where we make plans for the future and it has to happen without interruption. If you don’t make time to work without distraction, you are letting distraction trick you into prioritizing the urgent at the expense of the important. When none of the important reflective work gets done, opportunities are missed. We must make time to think or we’ll go through our days mindlessly. How are you going to make time for reflective work in your day? #Indistractable #Reflection #ProblemSolving #Leadership …see more

"Once you get there, it ain't no ta-da moment." In talking titles through McConaughey's success, you need to craft a FLEXIBLE title for all of your goals, just as you would a piece of content. This title gives you focus but doesn't limit you to a two-way street. "Give yourself a 16-lane autobahn so you can weave all through those lanes, take an exit, and be inspired along the way... you're still going in the same direction but you're giving yourself some leniency to have one step forward and two steps back." Give yourself room for MAGIC and CREATIVITY along the way. "We're all just chasing YET. We never arrive, and that's why I say that life is a VERB." We haven't hit six figures YET. We haven't bought that car YET. We haven't lived that life YET. So take this advice from the legend 👇 👉 Get clear on your values/non-negotiables and you'll remain focused and grounded. 👉 If you have a hard time figuring out WHICH goal to hit, understand what your goals are NOT to eliminate them. And don't forget to pick up Greenlights from your local book store or contact me for some support in your social media and personal brand strategy 😉 Stay healthy, Chantel Soumis #goals #success #creativity …see more
