Our #heritage is who we are and what we are made of. We must protect it to protect our deepest core of self. Now more than ever, we need to #support our artisans. Be the guardians of the rich heritage; it is our responsibility to preserve it for our #future generations. One of my most cherished possession is a handwoven cotton Benarasi saree with a rich border. It is a simple saree but was very expensive, and I had bought it directly from the weaver. Over the years, it has given me so much inner #joy , each time I wear it, I smile, I feel the connection to the artist who put so much effort to make this. What is your most cherished heirloom for you? …see more

In an email to employees, #JeffBezos announced that he is stepping down as Amazon CEO and will take over as executive chairman in Q3 2021. His email is a masterclass in communication and provides a lot of food for thought for entrepreneurs. Some words that stood out for me 1. Invention is the root of our #success . We’ve done crazy things together, and then made them normal. 2. A few years after a surprising invention, the new thing has become normal. People yawn. And that yawn is the greatest compliment an inventor can receive. 3. Keep inventing, and don’t despair when at first the idea looks crazy. 4. Remember to wander. Let curiosity be your compass. #Entrepreneurship #startups #innovation …see more

In recognition of his efforts to promote girls’ #education and trigger a quick-response (QR) coded textbook revolution in #India , Ranjitsinh Disale, a village school teacher from Maharashtra, was announced the winner of the annual Global Teacher Prize 2020. He also made history as the first winner to share half his $1M prize money with other finalists. His generous gesture means the other nine #teachers who reached the final stage will receive $55,000 each. Wonderful gesture. The only thing great speakers sell is an open invitation to contribute to a worthy cause. I never intended to become a speaker. My wife Linda asked me why I need both a ’61 Fender Stratocaster and a ’69 Telecaster. I told her, “Honey, this guitar is going to go up in value more than the stock market until I’m dead. Unfortunately, I’m taking it into my grave because I am going to need it in the after world. I’m not leaving it. I’m taking with me in my coffin the ’61 and the ’69 because I’m going to need them.” …see more

Google’s investment in Jio is a great sign for the India #DigitalOpportunity . A rare instance where two competitors Google and Facebook have co-invested. Jio has already brought exponential growth to India's digital explosion by expanding internet access to the masses Now, with a partnership with Google to develop entry-level 5G-enabled #smartphones , Jio is going to bring rapid digitization to the 350M feature phone users in India. This will significantly expand India’s digital economy once again, and be a net value creator for Indian startup & venture ecosystem, for bringing people on the digital highway is just the first step. Innovative startups will now have access to a customer base that was not online earlier and be able to build state of the art solutions for them Jio has been a great supporter and enabler for the Indian startups by investing in early-stage startups and giving them access to Jio’s scale from day 1. In the last 2 years, Jio has invested in startups across content, edtech, ecommerce, AR/VR & logistics. Mr Mukesh Ambani & Sundar Pichai have expressed that India will be the tech hotbed of the world and that startups are going to be pivotal in this journey. We are all excited to see how these partnerships will transform the economic & social fabric of India. …see more
