It's strange how the entire business world is generally about selling time and expertise as specialisms when almost everyone really just wants solutions. I'm amazed so much of the world isn't "You've back issues, come to us and we'll sort it" or " Starting a small company, we'll take care of everything". "Getting Married, we'll do it all" Instead, even small things can involve speaking to 8 separate experts, often in a circular fashion, " Ohhh, I mean I design websites, but I can't do the SEO", 'Oh, I do SEO, which involves explaining the words to use, but I don't write copy, you need a copywriter" ad Infinium. I've always thought there would be a huge business opportunity setting up "tech stacks in a box" for small, medium, or " rapidly expanding " companies. Instead, using experts and specialists we end up with - More prone to bias - Less imagination - Inefficiencies in the interfaces between them - Inability to challenge conventions. - Unaware of external viewpoints and unable to provide holistic solutions When can we accept that for many things we don't need the depth we assume we need. Maybe in practise, rounded generalists are better even than teams of world class specialists.
