I do love all these trends decks for 2020 that talk about the "the wealth of exciting opportunities for new products and services from 5G" without ever being able to name any. Your 5G strategy should be to make the most of 4G and everything we have now, because trust me, there is amazing stuff you can do and you are not, and let the hype calm down for several years. …see more
The services that companies and brands most need to "buy" are all the ones they are structured most poorly to be able to select, pay for and manage. I have no idea how we change this. Instead Agencies and Consultancies focus on the deliverables that are easiest for Clients to buy......which by definition have limited and tightly defined scope, many similar case studies, one clear stakeholder/ "buyer", have reduced risk and are templated. The issue is that these projects will never achieve that much as a result. You buy the "hacking session", the "5 day sprint", the "Prototype and 10 slide deck" and nothing ever comes of it. You need to buy the holistic business transformation, the customer centric service overhaul, the company wide data strategy, the new product to make, but these things are impossible to sell or buy. …see more

I’ve never understood why some have questioned the need for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). It seems so obvious that throughout #America ’s history, when other schools refused to admit African Americans—or treated them badly when they did attend—HBCUs became the urgently needed alternative. As I did a bit of exploring on the Morehouse College School of Medicine Campus today, that fact came to life powerfully. During these racially-charged times in America, a space where your presence won’t be questioned, or your skin color criminalized, sounds like an oasis. The ability to learn without daily “microaggressions” (statements, actions, or incidents that are indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group) is in my opinion more valuable than the prestige of an Ivy League education. My interview this morning with the President and Dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Valerie Montgomery-Rice, was intellectually-stimulating and nourished my writing process. I’m excited about submitting the first draft of my National Geographic feature about maternal mortality and African American women next week. #Morehouse #HBCUs #AfricanAmericans #BlackHistory #medicine #MorehouseMedicalSchool …see more
Congrats to the Wharton MBAs who have launched the first Penn Blockchain Conference. Very glad to open the conference, but I have so much to learn! Potential is massive and disruptive, fintech and beyond.
So I’m taking this 400 level accounting data analytics class which is proving to be a great challenge. It seems like I need a stronger math/statistics background. I have rallied my husband who has a masters in some sort of IT degree to help me. We spent all afternoon yesterday working thru the homework together. This morning the first words out of his mouth were... we need to finish those excel problems! Ha! So we have now finished my homework and I say it’s so much easier when you help. He responds... gee I think it’s easier when you aren’t involved! #myjourneyintotech #radicalcpa #data #analytics #cpa #neverstoplearning #useyournetworktohelp #business with Christopher Padar MBA CSSBB …see more

Are you putting any concern into your high risk employees right now? The high risk community is ON EDGE. So many of us with heart, lung, and immune issues are overwhelmed. Passionate in the past to succeed professionally, today we weigh the risks versus benefits. To keep working... Or retire in our twenties and thirties? That simply doesn't seem right, Does it? 🤍🤍🤍 I read the article about the survivor's guilt a daughter felt, losing her mom to COVID-19. She KNEW it was her that spread it to her unknowingly while working full-time and providing her mother care. As a member of the high-risk community, I was notified that our school district decided to send grades K - 4 back to school... The survivor's guilt fears shook me. How many children will be exposed and spread to their high risk parents? Can you imagine the guilt a child would have if their loved ones got sick with permanent disability, or even death? No matter how well an employee sounds or looks on the OUTSIDE, Dig in and ASK questions with genuine support. Provide alternative work options. Keep them safe. #leadership #management #remoteworking #differentlyabled #highrisk #chantelshares …see more

Our beloved dogs (aka “COVID companions”) have plenty of #leadership lessons to impart if we’re willing to embrace them: Start the day doing something you love Begin your day with an activity that brings you joy. That way when you show up for that Zoom call relaxed and happy, others will adopt a similar stance. Focus on one thing at a time Today, it’s easy to get distracted. When you’re listening, give that person your full attention. Eliminate everything else so you can focus on the task at hand. Build in breaks Building breaks in your day helps you recharge, refresh & fill the tank for the next round of tasks. Be sweet but persistent When chasing down leads, clients & colleagues, adopt a softer, gentler approach rather than strong-arming them to comply. You won’t feel so exasperated & they won’t feel like you’re hounding them. When you screw up, own it immediately Nobody’s perfect, but how you handle a misstep says a lot about you and your leadership style. Taking responsibility right away shows you’re accountable. Protect your pack & remind them that they matter Let your team know that they’re important to you. Compliment a job well done, say thank you & check in with them. Now, more than ever, a little empathy and gratitude go a long way. #career #workingfromhome …see more

My smile when my second book gets published in China. Just received the Chinese edition of “My Health Upgraded”. I’m really excited and hope it will be as successful as my previous book “The Guide to the Future of Medicine”, with over 50,000 copies already sold. When it comes to air pollution, we usually neglect the quality of indoor air and only talk about the air quality outdoors - we shouldn't, as research shows that indoor air is 3.5 times more polluted than the air outside.
