Emoji of the day: . Sharing this moment on LinkedIn where I've found, built, and developed lasting relationships with many incredible mentors and friends throughout the past years. Likewise, where I've been able to build my thought leadership and personal branding at a point so early in my career. #ucberkeley #berkeleyhaas #thankful …see more
Few things make me more angry that bureaucracy. The whole world seems like a mess of lazy repetition of the past. Forms to be filled in that will never be read. Boxes to be ticked because that's what you do. Redundant processes based on the complex needs of a pre-digital age. Regulation given as an excuse for any changes. I think a lot about the grandma ham story. I wonder why it is that I can pay suppliers in less than 3 mins, and the largest companies ask me to fill in massive forms and take months of paperwork. What happens if we all treated bureaucracy with the utter scorn it deserves rather than default to respecting "process" and diligence. What if trust, not process was celebrated. …see more
Which one would you like to have managing you? Exactly. So be like that one, and run away from the other one if you’re unfortunate enough to have them managing you.
What makes becoming indistractable the skill of the century? 💡 When it comes to living on our own terms, the problem isn’t that we don’t know what to do. The problem is that we can’t seem to stop getting distracted. I explain in the clip down below 👇👇👇 Thank you to Woven for putting this together! #Indistractable #Growth #Values #Traction …see more
I recently had a chance to speak with Gabriel Weinberg , CEO of DuckDuckGo and Author of Super Thinking: The Big Book of Mental Models! Gabriel is a real polymath and his book presents complicated psychology concepts, frameworks used by decision makers, and simple solutions to complex problems in a fun, illustrated guide. One part of his book that really stood out to me was the idea of Forcing Functions, which Gabriel elaborates on in our conversation. About last night... I view entrepreneurship as a high frequency role. One with the highest highs and the lowest lows— oftentimes occurring within moments of each other. In spite of the rollercoaster ride, I’ve had the pleasure of having Harvard Business School by my side for inspiration and support. I was so incredibly honored to receive this year’s Entrepreneurship Award from Harvard Business School Club of New York . In this power pic: this year’s dinner chair Prakash A. Melwani, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone; Recipient of the Business Statesman Award, Barry Sternlicht, Chairman & CEO of Starwood Capital Group; David Lynn, Co-Founder, Cycle for Survival, Recipient of the John C. Whitehead Social Enterprise Award; and me, founder and CEO of S'well , on a mission to save the world one bottle at a time… More about the evening here: https://prn.to/2V8eWS6 …see more
Join us as we start the journey of live streaming for 24 hours to help raise funds to bring the vision of XXO Connect into a reality. XXO Connect is a global, safe space, personal growth, transformational, and wellness app and platform created to restore and accelerate human connection and curve the culture back to connection over convenience while eliminating the fear of intimacy and vulnerability. While most platforms are designed for connection to others, XXO Connect is designed for connection to self, first, in a safe space environment free of judgment and free of personal data sharing. XXO CONNECT has chosen Kickstarter to build out the platform and have their community involved in it. Using traditional Venture Capital (VC Investors) would allow outside influence and compromise the integrity and control of their company, purpose, message, and values. XXO CONNECT app and platform will not include the industry-standard Google and Facebook Login options. It will only include an internal XXO CONNECT log in. This is to eliminate member information access to these outside companies, keeping a safe space not only with its members but their information as well. …see more
Is it a requirement whilst remodeling the home office... for the significant other to first point the stud finder at thyself subtly muttering, "found it" - ??? 😂 What a project it was turning a spacious closet into a new office space! I had three requirements: 1) A homemade, back-lit, moss wall because there is something so soothing about bringing the outdoors inside. 2) Damask wallpaper, because I'm a class act 👸 3) A special spot for Red because he's the best dog that ever existed. All surrounding my pride and joy... the giant, vintage, green travel chest from Germany that my grandparents used to build the "American Dream" right here in the midwest. Every office has a story... What story is your space telling? Bonus points for photos! #office #behindthescenes #business …see more
I started my company alongside my old college roommate. That's something I realized I never really talk about, nor expected to happen. Israel , Eric , Brema & I own one of the most exciting + fastest growing startups in our city. I asked Izzy if he ever expected to be building something like this and he said 'no'. But he knew at some point he wanted to build something of his own. What are you working on in 2019 that you're excited about? #justQ 🖤 …see more

I'm always surprised why we all don't say enough "Thank You" to our team members and recognize their efforts more often. A lot of times we only do that when we are about to lose them. Based on the Behavioral Change models and Children Training guidelines, we know regular and small pat on the back will help individuals to learn and repeat a good behavior. As managers and leaders, let's use these tactics more often to recognize our team memebers' contributions regularly, and help them thrive. #peoplemanagement #peoplepsychology #leadership …see more

We can already measure so many vital signs and health parameters with wearables. But EEG (cc. brain waves) has always been an outlier. The company Muse has been the leader in this space, but no matter how much work they have put into their device, signal strength is an issue due to the nature of measuring EEG. Even while I meditated with it, if I blinked one, the signal strength changed. Muse did help me learn how to meditate better, but I stopped using it eventually because I couldn't reach mindfulness with a device on my head. Now Brainlink International, Inc. was kind enough to send their device to me. Their headset has a relaxation and a focus training component too. I plan to test both, but obviously, I'm much more interested in the focus training. I used to test the NeuroSky headset with a drone so when I reached a certain level of focus, the drone started flying around. There is no drone now, but there is definitely a place on the market for a focus training, EEG-based device. I'll keep you posted. (My face? This is what I look like when I'm about to meditate with a headset.) #EEG #EEGdevice #EEGheadset #MentalHealth #DigitalHealth …see more

LIFE AND REMOTE WORK? I'm fascinated by how this potential move to being able to work more remotely, more often will pan out. Will this mean people flock from expensive city centers to suburbs? to far flung semi-commutable towns? to less expensive cities, to rural areas, to other countries, or will very little change? How many people threaten to move to Canada each election cycle! I've long held the thought that little will change, but the longer this goes on, the more you have friends that talk about leaving, the more real it becomes. & The moment you see what the rent of your one bedroom in Manhattan gets you in Bali or Tuscany or Savannah and things change fast. …see more
Cut the cord today. Getting 200mbps for $40 and paying for streamed TV + Hulu + Netflix + HBO. I'll now watch more TV, that I'm more in control off & it's now possible to target me with addressable ads. Yet some people call my behaviour a sign TV is dying.
