The problem with systemic busyness – doing lots of “stuff” in a visible manner due to an absence of clear indicators of what it means to be productive and valuable – is that it dulls your life, undermines your performance, and deteriorates your impact in the world. It disconnects you from and diminishes your brilliance. Your brilliance is what makes you, you. It is the intersection of your head (your intellect) and your heart (your passion). …see more

It's odd how many people think trend lines this show eCommerce is THE future. 1) Stores were closed, what did people expect to happen? What happens when they open is the question? 2) Did people not see eCommerce coming? Has there ever been a more steady predictable trend? The real questions are: - How do we make stores that change based around the new behaviors than online has created, I don't want to search 24 placements of jeans like a treasure trail. -How do we make online commerce that's interesting and fun, all eCom sites feel as boring as a Catalogue. -How do we get the two to work together properly. Most physical stores seem to deny that the internet exists, or compete with their online division. - How do we make ads that are shoppable. etc …see more

For a little fun side project ( hacking a new product for a Smart home), I'd love to meet two people, ideally based in New York, for this passion project.  Person 1) Would be a Hardware hacker, the sort of person who plays with Arduinos and Servo motors in a garage. Quite know an RF from an IR blaster. So mainly basic stuff.  Person 2) Would be someone who can make simple but beautiful apps. The sort of app that allows you to turn things on and off, plays with IFTTT combos, they would need to know about the Echo Skills Kit and HomeKit. It's a pretty simple idea I just want to scope out and make for fun. While I will pay, this will be done by people who are doing it because it's fun. …see more

Dating apps are a good example of tech changing behavior for worse. Apps have created a sense of abundance, driven superficial behavior & means people don't talk to each other in bars as much. Be interesting to create one that connects beyond photos as primarily filter. Especially one based on spontaneity without the hookup undertone.

I've watched Mark Metry watched grow into a force to be reckoned with, and host of a top 100 iTunes podcast in the most competitive category, since I met him in early 2018. The lessons I've learned from Mark throughout this past year: 1). You can be anything you put in the work to be. 2). The stories that we tell ourselves will heavily dictate our realities. 3). Think outside of the box: If you want to meet interesting people figure out how you can bring value to them. 4). Take time to get to know yourself and don't be afraid to ask yourself hard questions to figure out who you really are. 5). When you're interviewing someone do your research. And when they're talking listen to understand... not just to respond. Whose someone you're enjoying learning from right now? #justQ 🖤 …see more

I revisited my first popular Linkedin article, "How I Overcame My Lack of Work Experience." Here's why it succeeded ⬇ 1️⃣ It addressed what my #audience WANTED to read --- You have to find your audience, and then create content that fits what that demographic looks for on that platform.  My audience in 2015 = students, job seekers, & recruiters 2️⃣ It was SHORT --- People tend to read on the internet at a 3rd grade level. Shorter is usually better, regardless of the #algorithm .  3️⃣ It FIT the platform for the time.  --- I have people asking "How do you make a successful article in 2018? I want to write something like that one on overcoming lack of experience." Don't. That worked for 2015. 2018 favors short form posts, topical articles, and video.  What has worked for you? What has been your most viral piece?  I would love to hear from Sam Park   Tiffany Parra   Fabio Marrama   Alexandra Galviz (Authentic Alex)  on why they think a particular piece of their content has done so well on the platform.  #10Tips10Days  Bobby Umar   Lila Smith   Jake Jordan   Kira Day …see more

Will We Live to Be 200 Years Old? What Happens When We All Live to 100? Is There a Limit to the Human Lifespan? I get asked about longevity too often. People obviously want to know how long they could live and what they should do to expand their life. But I always refuse to talk about it. How can I talk about longevity when I cannot even download my medical records from a healthcare institution?! In this article, I explain in details why longevity is indeed at the end of the road but why we need to tackle several issues before reaching that. #longevity #future #life #health …see more

IF YOU’RE A PRIORITIZER Try This Strategy: A productivity strength of yours is your ability to complete significant amounts of work and keep your head down. Leverage this strength by communicating open door/open office hours to your colleagues. Let them know when you are available, each day. Even if you work in an open office space, you can still establish “interruption hours,” leaving other periods when your colleagues know that you need to work without being disturbed. …see more
