We often assume that thinking like a rocket scientist is beyond the ability of mere mortals without a special kind of genius, but that assumption turns out to be wrong. I interviewed Ozan Varol about his book, Think Like a Rocket Scientist. Ozan shares how we can all benefit from thinking like a rocket scientist. #thinklikearocketscientist #problemsolving #indistractable …see more

Startups often perceive crisis as a short term phenomenon and are hesitant in making decisive changes until it is too late. Ashok Leyland scripted a remarkable turnaround by: 1. Being decisive in effecting a leadership change 2. Utilising cost-saving initiatives 3. Expanding into new segments and markets While this year has been difficult for the society at large and for many of us in the start-up ecosystem, it has been especially difficult for founders. Others before us have faced crisis, albeit in different ways. Whether it was the financial crisis or the dot-com crash or an internal crisis specific to a company, there are so many examples of transformational companies and inspirational leaders that transcended a crisis. We can certainly learn from their journeys. These episodes of the #KalaariPodcast come from our continued commitment to empower and encourage entrepreneurs. podcasts@kalaari.com #Startups #Crisis https://lnkd.in/eBkF9XJ …see more

Good #judgement is one of the most important qualities in personal and professional life. There is no course or class to improve judgement. Life experiences are the teacher. We are never specifically rewarded for it. Though the results of good judgement are the obvious reward, I have never heard anyone say my #NewYearResolution is to have better judgement. Generally, there is no measurement applied to this. But I think judgement and analysis of ourselves is an important exercise of introspection and #SelfImprovement . https://lnkd.in/f6ypawQ …see more

Why are we looking for “adaptive to change” people?🤔 Adaptive challenges refer to situations where there are no known solutions to the problem or cases where there are too many solutions but no clear choices. Adaptive challenges are by nature, adaptive, which also means they are fluid and change with circumstances. The coronavirus situation caused a lot of uncertainty, suddenly companies had to change everything in a second without base knowledge. The companies and people who won’t adjust fast will fail. And this is why we hire “adapters”. We are 3 steps ahead of everyone else, with new creative ideas because of it. While most of the companies try to understand how to WFH this is so last week for us😂 Well, the new routine is ahead..good luck for all of us! My last book recommendation for 2020: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain . The book describes how the 20th century was for the good-looking extroverts, the ‘sales’ types of people. Whereas the 21st century is all about the introverts: the Bill Gateses and Elon Musks, the Big Bang Theory genius geeks. However, the future is for “the mix”. It made me note both the introvert and extrovert personality traits I have: I’m very introvert in my life, in disliking social events, when I’m immersed in reading, even when driving a car (no radio or podcast on, just complete silence). Whereas I also feel amazing when giving a keynote to 1,000 people. Without going too much into the scientific reasoning behind this (read the book for more details!) What's important is that we should do our best to balance our introvert and extrovert personality traits to make them collaborate rather than conflict with each other. Have you read this book? If so, let me know your thoughts! #bookrecommendation #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #book #reading #read …see more

Patients have to pick up a paper with a number while waiting at a Hungarian hospital. I'm not saying that every process in providing healthcare should be digital, but I'm sure there are better solutions/options than this in the 21st century. Have you seen good examples for reducing hospital waiting times? The irony here is that I could go to this hospital in my driverless car and then pick up a paper number. #digitalhealth #healthcare #technology #innovation #design …see more

I'm incredibly happy and proud to announce that my university course, Lessons in Digital Health, whose curriculum I made open access will launch at three medical schools this semester in Turkey, The Philippines and Poland besides my course at Semmelweis Medical School. I still look for lecturers who would like to bring the knowledge and approach of digital health to their medical students for free. It's our obligation to let medical students learn about digital health wherever they study. This is the first step towards that. http://bit.ly/2Ly6It0 #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #meded …see more

If your first day back includes stressful meetings, you may find yourself falling behind and getting overwhelmed. Don’t take any meetings the first day you return to work. Instead, ease yourself back into work. The only meeting you should be booking is with yourself. Block off the first morning or, better yet, the entire first day if you can. Take the time by yourself to catch up on emails and voicemail messages. Respond when you need to. …see more
