DELEGATE EFFECTIVELY Explicitly define the purpose behind the project or task. Make sure the goals are measurable and specific; paint a vivid picture for the person assuming the project of what success will look like. At the same time, avoid defining or dictating in minute detail how the task is to be completed. …see more

[NEW REPORT ON CHINESE CONSUMERS] If anyone is looking for evidence that Chinese consumers are confident, they should look no further than Singles Day, which smashed all previous records to hit $25 billion in sales – in just 24 hours. But what are these consumers buying, and why? McKinsey China’s forthcoming consumer report – Double Clicking on the Chinese Consumer: The new health craze, the rise of the post-90s generation, and other trends worth watching – delves deeper than recent headlines to uncover what’s motivating this massive pool of cash-rich consumers. [FOR JOURNALISTS ONLY: We are releasing this report on Wednesday November 22 at 23:00 Beijing time. Extinct Rebellion is a good example of 3 common modern day phenomena we should seek to understand. - Extremism: Information, well presented data and opinion pieces to support pretty much any opinion is readily found on the internet and in huge volumes. One Google search & algorithms create a self reinforcing "reality", where any single extreme viewpoint is normalized and supported by an endless recursive loop of more material to entrench a viewpoint further. -Belonging: In an age with declining religion, higher standards of living and fewer social bonds, life feels rather meaningless. There is a strong need to find a tribe to be part of, rituals to provide meaning, a common enemy to bond over. -Attention hacking: Movements know how to create outrage. The smartphone video is the atomic unit of PR, outrage is the oxygen, they know any events that look shocking on camera will feed a modern press that needs cheap easy video and photo driven stories. Not passing judgement on a movement that I'm sure is based in good intentions. But it's worth understanding more. …see more

The worst website there is to buy CPG/FMCG/Food/Clothing on the planet is Amazon. The choice architecture, the labelling, the search, the complex subbrands for supply, the marketplace and it's dodgyness, and all insanely complex. The payment part is a breeze, customer service great, but that's it!
This adorable baby and Mama are reminding me that I have earned a spa treatment to start the new year. But they are also reminding me that more than 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to safe water. That is unacceptable, and so one of my 2020 resolutions is to keep doing everything I can to raise awareness about #healthequity , #healthcareaccess , #humanrights and #socialjustice . LinkedIn has been my main tool for doing that in recent years, and I'm so grateful to have this platform. i've already claimed 2020 as my year of crystal clear focus about what matters in this world. Won't you join me? UNICEF …see more

Are you scheduling enough time for your loved ones? Twice a month, my wife and I plan a date. Sometimes we do something elaborate. But mostly we just walk and talk for hours. Regardless of what we do, we know that this time is cemented in our schedules and will not be compromised. In the absence of this scheduled time together, it’s too easy to fill our time with other errands, like running to the grocery store or cleaning the house. Our time together allows us to live out our shared value of intimacy—there’s no one else I can open up to the way I can with her. But this can only happen if we make the time. In order to live fulfilling lives, we have to turn our values into time. How do you schedule time with your loved ones? #Indistractable #Intimacy #Scheduling #Values #TimeManagement …see more
