ALL SUCCESS COMES FROM NOTHING. Let me repeat... All the successful people you know, they started off with nothing. When I first started doing video. I was working as a community manager. I felt like I was restarting. I was in a new city. Without support. I had less than $200 in the bank. I was creating videos on the side, building my skills up. I was scared all the time. Scared of being caught for doing โ€œtwo jobsโ€ at the same time. Scared of what people think of me. But I did it anyway. I kept up my new skill of video and gained more. From 1 video to 1000 videos (and 10000 hours of doing)... I gained... ๐Ÿ— a community (people believed in me) ๐Ÿ— my voice (I learnt to tell my story) ๐Ÿ— opportunities (videos opened many doors for me) ๐Ÿ— and kickstarted my online business. The biggest door is being here on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a platform of opportunities. Someone here will open a door for you too. When youโ€™re creating, donโ€™t give up. Someone is quietly lurking, reading or watching. Success happen when you start telling your story and keep going. We all start with nothing. When starting out like content creation. Keep building it till it comes a second nature. Will you... Start or do nothing? #stringtheory on #personalbranding โ€ฆsee more

Are you struggling to be heard? Your natural inclination may be to raise your voice, literally or metaphorically. But this world has a cacophony of noise. Tons of distractions. A million reasons that make it difficult to listen. Yelling louder wonโ€™t help you break through. Worse, youโ€™ll be another person/brand/company โ€œscreamingโ€ at others. Instead, consider doing something completely counterintuitive: whisper. Or donโ€™t speak at all; use non-verbal forms of communication. Because doing so may provide you with a point of difference. And because you stand out, youโ€™ll get attention. The right kind of attention. And when you have that, you can finally deliver your message and be heard. Remember, communication isnโ€™t about being the loudest in the room. Itโ€™s about connecting with your intended audience. Respectfully, kindly, creatively. And I, for one, would much rather connect with someone who cares enough not to yell at me. โ€ช #leadership #career #communication #connection โ€ฌ โ€ฆsee more

Healthy pullback or start of a major correction? That's the question on many market participants' minds. Technicals rather than fundamentals will be the determining factor here -- particularly the extent to which market consensus shifts from a relative to an absolute mindset. This milestone -- of 10 million COVID cases globally -- has been reached in the context of record daily cases in the US and in developing countries. The silver lining: record testing. Bad news: the compositional evolution means harder to detect in a more timely fashion the infection carriers (due to rising number of cases among the young in the US) and huge human suffering (in developing countries where health care systems are easily overwhelmed). โ€ฆsee more

Never a dull moment for Hertz investors: Media reports that, due to SEC discomfort, the car-rental company is suspending its plans for a $500 million equity issuance. Let's see how investors react. What on earth happened to make companies think that Chat interfaces are a great way to use stupid virtual assistants to help your customers and not merely a way for humans to help your customers in more succinct immediate way in the manner that they would like help.

If you want help from someone, a top tip is to make it as easy as possible for them to help you. Clarity and brevity is a key part of that, yet most people when needing help or a favor hide behind vague fluffy language.

The curious thing is that each year it becomes easier to make and build things. It seems more companies are there to make what was once hard, easy. It appears you can outsource ever more. Funding seems more forthcoming. At the same time larger companies have more knowledge from a previous era, more legacy muscle memory, more memories of the old rules, more complexity and organizational entropy. Its never been easier to create and harder to change. One wonders if digital transformation is an unhelpful notion for many entities and theyโ€™d be better off just creating from scratch what they should be today and managing the decline of the old entity. Less of a frog leap, more of a Caterpillar metamorphosis โ€ฆsee more
