They say, acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for abundance. I like to keep a gratitude journal, and no matter how bad you think your day was, at the end of it, there will be something that you would be grateful for. #WeekendMusings …see more

A retired orchestra teacher hospitalized for covid—and who’s unable to speak due to being intubated—playing the violin to thank the medical team caring for him.
We really really have to stop the practice of professional ghosting. I hear of people offered jobs and who sign employment contracts, never to be replied to again. I hear of people who’ve signed speaking contracts and agreed dates who never hear from the organizers again. For goodness sake have the dignity and humanity to write a short email and say “ sorry , things have changed” or “I thought I could sign this off and can’t”. To ghost someone is a pathetic way to live your life and we must fight against this. These are peoples lives you are screwing up because you don’t want to spend 20 seconds drafting a slightly tricky email. …see more
I want an app called "Drink now". You press a button and it sends out a message to all your good mates within 2 miles and tells them you want to meet near there for a spontaneous drink. "Meal now" would be the West Coast option and extend out further.

As a child, on Diwali mornings, we would wake up bright and early at 5 am. Despite the chill in the air, waking up early on this day was never met with a complaint. We would then light a diya, and take a nice oil bath (a tradition perhaps unique to India). In my home, there was a longstanding tradition of the girls performing aarti for the men of the household, post which they would give us little gifts. Mom would have made a lot of homemade sweets, a Diwali tradition. We would carefully wrap these, and walk over to the homes of friends and neighbours to deliver them personally, one of the little joys of Diwali. Come evening, we would light dozens of oil diyas, often making a little competition of it with neighbours to see whose house had more. And then, of course, the signature part of Diwali — the fireworks. We would light piles of firecrackers, lighting up our driveways and the skies with showers of sparkles! This year, I celebrate a silent Diwali with home made food and togetherness of my family. I wish you a joyous Diwali, filled with the most important thing in life - memories of togetherness and love. …see more

The societal effects of Instagram are really starting to freak me out. Endless people broadcasting their lives, seeking validation and followers & accidentally courting envy. Worries me greatly for well balanced 30+ year olds, but scares me more for younger folk. Maybe I'm wrong, but seems we should live life, not broadcast it.

I am currently reading this book ‘Range - Why generalists triumph in a specialized world’ and it brings a fresh perspective that being ‘Jack-of-all-trades’ does have merit. It is counterintuitive to what we all have been told since childhood - Pick a #career and specialize in it. In the world full of specialists, having dabbled in a range of work exposes one to different ideas and the ability to have diverse perspectives. In some sense, traditional companies always encouraged senior leadership roles to work in different departments to understand the business more holistically. Coming to #entrepreneurs , I have personally seen that the ability to wear different hats at the same time and the ability to deep dive into these different subjects is a hallmark of a good entrepreneur. #WeekendMusings …see more
If you are a #watchonista like me the raging debate is what watch to wear to the #superbowl this weekend. I'm going off piste and wearing a #VacheronConstantin Historiques American 1921. The origins of this watch go back to 1921, when Vacheron Constantin created a limited series of watches just for American motorists. The idea was to create a watch optimized for reading with your hands on the steering wheel, so the dial was rotated to place it at the correct angle for easy viewing. The high noon numeral "12" is actually 30% off axis and it freaks people out when the see it. This is a new and welcomed addition to my collection modified by the good people at HODINKEE, Inc. with a custom red band so I'm giving it some love. I love a watch that starts a conversation! …see more
