"Chantel, do you think it's a good idea to be so candid on LinkedIn? Where do you draw the line and decide what to post and what's just TOO personal?" I get these questions ALL the time At every keynote and daily in direct messages. Anything that provides VALUE should be shared. It's an art to share challenges without making your audience feel uncomfortable. *** If my vulnerability reaches just ONE heart... Inspires just ONE warrior... or Makes just ONE caregiver feel acknowledged and appreciated... I've done my job! *** Thank you all SO much for your support over this past year! I'm SO honored by the Woman of Inspiration nomination! Thank you Julian Smit ! If you can provide value, do it! What are you waiting for? Where are my Toronto friends at?! I'd love to meet up while I'm in town for the gala in October! #inspire #motivate #chantelshares #socialmedia #digitalmarketing #motivationalspeaker #inspirationalspeaker …see more

It's true, if you post daily you will gain lots of views. I'm going to give you a reality check: You're not a marketer. Nor a content creator. You're a busy professional. You're an expert in what you do. But writing a post? Creating a video? Writing an article? These take time to create. Time that you don't have. Nor the headspace to be creative. Skill too (this can be developed) I bet you a southern fried chicken, that your perfectionism is holding you back from creating. You don't need to be on all social channels. Just one that really counts. One that makes it worth investing. When you're ready to build a personal brand on LinkedIn. Slowly build up that cadence. Your story. Your why. Your clarity. Your confidence. Your voice. Who cares about posting daily. Start off with one. Then create another. A good aim for cadence is 1 post a week. Maintain that habit. Actually, if you can handle posting daily on multiple channels. Consider quitting your job and be a full-time marketer or content creator. Or keep being a professional that you are. Don't go for candy views. Build a brand that sustainable. #stringtheory on # #personalbranding …see more

Here are 24 suggestions* to help you leap into a better career: 17. Embrace these four little words It’s not about you! Put others first to improve your communication and connection, establish trust, deepen relationships, and build business. 18. Forge your own path and be a “career contrarian” There is more than one path to success; get comfortable being uncomfortable, trust your gut, play the long game, and eliminate negative self-talk. 19. Focus on attention and trust Kindness and respect ultimately earn attention and trust. 20. Become more charismatic Charisma’s real power has less to do with you and everything to do with how you make others feel. 21. Talk less, listen more Active listening demonstrates respect, builds trust, and makes people feel valued. 22. Stop hiding and move past your fear Everything you’ve ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear; it’s time to stop hiding and go for it. 23. Get your (career) story straight It helps to differentiate you from your competitors, highlight your value, and to draw others to you. 24. Magnify your impact by sharing your wisdom All the wisdom in the world is meaningless without application. Sharing your wisdom doesn’t diminish your impact; it amplifies it. *Part 3 of 3 #career #leadership #progress …see more

When female founders were at risk of losing their upward momentum in both $ and % of total VC capital from COVID-19, 500 recommitted to female founders and brought the community together to support with time, resources, and money. Helping to build that 500 Female Forces initiative has been one of the most rewarding projects I've done at 500. During its launch, some of my friends and former classmates who identify as female founders reached out to me regarding the initiative including Sarah Weingust whom I met in my sophomore year of college. Sarah, like me, is super passionate about supporting female founders during this time, and I am so happy to have been able to contribute to her newsletter: Female Founders Weekly. Initial jobless claims came in at 1.416 million. This worse than expected outcome constituted the first weekly increase since March. Less disappointing, continuing claims were 16.2 million versus consensus expectations of 17.1 mm. The overall message is that an economy able to recover well is stalling due to renewed health concerns. …see more

Fascinating to see the IMMEDIATE price reaction to the Hertz news (prior tweet) and how it compares to the market reaction when company signaled the sale. As illustrated in the 2 charts, in both cases the price went up. The two can only be reconciled by boundless investor exuberance. #Hertz #markets #stocks #investing #investing #stockmarket #equities …see more

With another bout of price carnage to the front end of the WTI curve (May contract is down by well over 20% and June contract by over 10%), how this oil ETF (USO) trades today should attract renewed attention. I love this quote from Ian Rogers about leaving LVMH to move to Ledger. " After my first 90 days on the job at LVMH I told Toni Belloni (Managing Director and my boss), “I think this is a ten year transformation, but you should have me do the job for only five years.” I think a lot of roles should be offered in a manner where the assumption is that you get a lot done & then expect to move on. Jobs are about mutual commitment and getting stuck in, but they should also always be a vehicle to get to something else, and being honest about that is best for everyone. …see more

While I’m no fan of smart speakers or ideas like voice commerce. It would be extremely useful to be able to use voice to perform most tasks on a laptop/tablet . “Reply to email from John Doe”, “search for X” , “find note I made about Y” and have dictation work far better. Voice as the next UI works well with screen based devices and other UI’s as an input …see more

I was in a World Food Programme helicopter flying out of Butembo, #DRCongo when I learned that i had been featured in a Nation Media Group Sunday newspaper feature. The reporter who produced it, Angela Oketch , had asked me to respond to a set of questions that she wanted to use as a Q&A for her "Woman to Woman" regular feature. I replied and sent the answers back to her, but had literally forgotten about it. As a #journalist , it's always a bit weird to see yourself in the news. ESPECIALLY when they use a 10 year old picture that you don't even remember posing for! Still, I was honored to be included in #Nairobi 's Daily Nation newspaper, and to be able to share some insights on the #freelance and #mediaconsulting life. #Africanjournalism #Africa #womeninmedia #reporters #reporterslife …see more
