William Barclay once said that there are 2 great days in a person’s life—the day we are born and the day we discover why. February 12 was one of those days, as I led a marvelous #journalism training for Women Deliver and #DeliverForGoodKenya . This is what it feels like when you have stepped into your own strength. It’s been a long journey, but I finally made it. #TwoThirdsNOW #grateful #blessed …see more
I met Debra Adams Simmons 26 years ago at the Detroit Free Press . I was 4 years old, and she was 3. Anyway, it was wonderful re-connecting with her today. She's the Executive Editor, Culture for National Geographic , and she's the reason I'm so stoked about my new journalism adventure. Treasure your connections. Cultivate your relationships. You never know when it could astonish you. #Freep #DFPDivas …see more

For RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, this is probably the toughest monetary policy. The message it sends out is more important than the action
By resorting to the two-step OMOs, the RBI is managing the yield at both the shorter end as well as the longer end. Win-win for both the government and the banks.
The choice before the Reserve Bank is between a harder forward premium and a sharp decline in the domestic market rates
Everyone has different moral principles that influence their ethical beliefs, so the decisions leaders make are not always clear cut. I used to be clinically obese. For years, I struggled with my weight. And at some point, I had to eventually ask myself: Are you actually eating because you’re hungry or are you eating because you’re trying to manage the discomfort of an emotion? I was overeating because I felt sad. I was overeating because I was bored. I was overeating because I felt ashamed I had overeaten. Distraction starts from within. Understanding the internal triggers prompting my unhealthy behavior was the first step to living a healthier life. What uncomfortable emotions do you think drive your unhealthy behaviors or the behaviors or those around you? #Indistractable #Health #Psychology …see more
It’s not about the box of chocolates and the diamond necklaces you’re giving your special lady today. It’s not about the concert or sports tickets, or adventure trip you’re giving your special man today. Relationships are about consistency. Not intensity. The small deposits made every single day that help them realize why they’re special to you. So when you’re out tonight celebrating, remember what you’re doing should be part of your habitual process in your relationship with your significant other. #Indistractable #Consistency #Intensity #ValentinesDay …see more
One of the most effective ways to change our behavior is to change our identity. No, this doesn’t require joining a witness protection program. Rather, as modern psychology confirms, slight alterations in the way we see ourselves can have a dramatic effect on our future actions. I was a vegetarian for five years. As anybody who has tried a meat-free diet knows, people always ask you, “Don’t you miss meat?” The answer: Of course I did! But when I began identifying as vegetarian, I experienced a shift. Meat was no longer a craving to be fought, it was just something I no longer ate. Vegetarians don’t eat meat, so I didn’t eat meat. Not eating meat was fundamental to my identity, so I didn’t do it. By aligning our behaviors to our identity, we make choices based on who we believe we are. Which identities help you make better decisions? #Indistractable #Identity #BehaviorChange …see more

How do you know if you're doing well on #LinkedInAds ? I've been waiting for a long time for someone to publish benchmark data without fluff. I finally did it. This is the first of many instructional videos with @ Social Media Examiner and it just dropped. I'm way too excited and totally floored by the quality. Mitchell Dong did the heroic feat of actually making me look presentable, but the data is pretty sexy even without killer animations. Thanks Michael (Mike) Stelzner for thinking to involve me in your amazing organization's content. https://lnkd.in/e5XbhZD Please like and comment, and ask any questions you have! …see more

Each year, I pick a word to guide me and focus my efforts. My friends and family will attest that over the years, I’ve selected many words (including “badass”), but for 2020 I’m going with a blended word: “be(com)ing,” which combines “being” and “becoming.” I’m setting an intention to “be” (rather than just to “do”), because it’s in those quiet moments and the lack of busyness that my greatest insights and creativity come alive. And because I’m all about the possibilities and I aspire to be a lifelong learner, “becoming” speaks to making positive changes and moving toward something greater... Namely, becoming more me, which is enhanced and complemented by being. What’s your word for 2020? #focus #clarity #intention …see more

Brené Brown, Satya Nadella, Sara Blakely, and Gary Vaynerchuk are admired for their business acumen and leadership styles. But their real superpower? The ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS. When you can do this, you immediately increase your ability to communicate, foster deeper relationships, and build trust. Here are four ways you can get this coveted soft skill: 1. Put on your empathetic listening ears to put yourself in others’ shoes and truly understand things from their perspective. People will naturally align themselves with leaders who make them feel heard and understood. 2. Share more than just the wins. As a leader, it’s tempting to highlight your strengths, but people will respect and connect with those who also share their struggles. 3. Create a culture that values people over products. It’s easier to connect with people when they feel like they matter. 4. Be human, be vulnerable, and “embrace the suck.” The best way to connect with others is to be human, which means being vulnerable. Leaders who find the courage to “embrace the suck” provide a path for common humanity to prevail and for real connection to occur. #connection #leadership #business #success #professionaldevelopment #growth #softskills #career #HumansFirst …see more
Have you clicked on the Search Appearances feature on your profile? 🤔 You get this notification weekly, some of you ignore it while I suggest taking a deeper look. On your LinkedIn profile, you’ll see the number of searches you appeared in. Clicking on them gives you some handy insights. Where it shows the job-titles of the people, this indicates if you reach the right audience. Take a look at whose search you appeared in and see if those are the kinds of searches you want to be showing up in. If the people you are appearing to are unrelated to your field I would recommend seeing if you could make some adjustments to your profile to better align with the searches you want to show up in. As you can see, in my case: 📌People from AppsFlyer search my profile- Hi guys you can reach out to me over slack although I'm more available here😂 📌Most of the people work as SW developers- which is good for me because this is the audience I'm looking to hire. 📌The keywords people search for Sourcer, Recruiter, HR, and Talent are also amazing for me because this is the kind of words I want people to search and find me. So, take a deeper look and try to learn and improve. This is a great QA to your profile. I think a good number should be 300-500 searches🙏🏼 #linkedin #jobs …see more

Today is the day that for exactly 6 months, I have not travelled anywhere. Since the beginning of the pandemic, like so many others, I've been homebound. A few things I have learnt over this short period. 1) Virtual keynotes not only can be as useful as in-person talks, but the visual opportunities are endless and I cannot wait to show you a few examples of what we have done already. 2) It feels good not to contribute to global warming by flying and traveling less. 3) I can work more than ever. Literally, 10-12 hours, no weekends, this is a vicious circle. You keep on finishing tasks but you never finish the list. 4) Consequently, I have to put much more emphasis on my mental health. If you spend all your time in a swimming pool, all you can do is swim. This is what happens to me now. 5) The logistics of virtual keynotes is twice as hard as for in-person keynotes (I would have not believed you if you had told me this 6 months ago). What have you learnt over this turbulent period? #covid #covid19 #keynote #speaker …see more
