Just a little reminder for the UK. For some lockdowns mean a little more time with the kids, a bit more working from the spare room, a bit more cosying next to loved ones. Perhaps time to tidy the house or plant bulbs or start a new craft project in the workshop. Another box set to gorge on TV. For others they mean the removal from life of seemingly absolutely everything they live for, the destruction of their livelihoods, sudden removal of any hope for the future. The chance of feeling alive vanish until a time they can't imagine. They mean day after day spent alone, or trapped with abusive partners, time away from dying loved ones, or people they planned to marry trapped in other countries. They mean lost dreams, lost deposits, lost savings, people dying alone, and funerals where people never get to say goodbye. They mean unemployment for years to come, crippling anxiety, the need to give up on dreams. They mean suicide, mental health issues, substance abuse issues. They don't mean a lost year, they mean a widespread massive loss of ANY sense of meaning or purpose or routine or belief in the or their future. So if you're in the former, please think of the latter and spare your virtue signalling. If in the latter, hang on in there and feel free to DM me.
