I recently got a message on Instagram from an elementary school teacher. She told me that every week, her class chooses one character virtue to focus on -- things like kindness, empathy, and responsibility. The character virtue for this week? Indistractable! She said that she spent part of the week going over some of the techniques covered in my book with her class. When one of her high-needs students was working diligently on an assignment, a friend walked up to him to have a conversation and politely, the student responded with, “Not now, I’m indistractable” and went right back to work! At the end of each day, the class gives shoutouts to each other. Here are some of the things the teacher heard: “The whole class was indistractable when we were meditating and someone knocked on the door. We acknowledged the sound, but kept meditating.” “I have a shoutout for Jordan because he was indistractable when we were doing math on the computer. I saw someone try to distract him and he shook his head, then kept working.” With all the concerns around COVID-19, it’s important to focus on the small victories. #Indistractable #Traction #Education
