The big divide in the future won't be nation to nation, or developed vs developing countries , but urban to rural. Increasingly ALL behavior follows these lines.

While we endlessly talk about how fast technology is changing and changing our lives, realistically I can't think of any remotely profound changes due to tech in the last 6/7 years. Am I wrong? What was the last big app/device for you?

Some people think I wrote Indistractable because I’m somebody who has incredible self-control and that I’ve always been productive with my time. That couldn’t be further from the truth šŸ˜… Self-control and willpower have never been my strengths. I’d say I was going to eat healthy, then I wouldn’t. I’d say I’d exercise, then I wouldn’t. I’d say I’d get work done, then I wouldn’t. Ironically enough, I was incredibly distractible. A turning point for me came when I was with my daughter one day. We had a beautiful day planned -- just she and I spending quality time together. We had a book of activities we could do together. One of them was having us each answer this question: ā€œIf you could have any superpower, what superpower would you want?" I remember the question verbatim. But I couldn’t tell you what my daughter’s answer was. Because I was on my phone. And that’s when I realized I was sending a very harmful message to her: whatever was on my phone was more important than she was. By the time I turned away from my phone, my daughter had left the room and started playing with some toy outside. I didn’t write Indistractable because I have incredible self-control. I wrote it to help people like me establish a system for living out their values. #Indistractable #Relationships …see more

A quick search on YouTube reveals thousands of videos of parents storming into their kids’ rooms, unplugging the computers or gaming consoles, and smashing the devices into bits. But here’s what most parents don’t understand: Technology isn’t the problem, and enforcing strict rules around tech usage isn’t the solution. Rather, it’s the root causes to children’s distractions that need to be addressed. Check out my latest article in CNBC . It's trending today within the top 3. I'd love for you to check it out. …see more

I over did it and let a few people down this weekend and I'm okay with it 😳 but before you call me cold-hearted, here's why... Although I try to keep family and business in balance, I noticed how many meetings began sliding onto my calendar Saturday and Sunday afternoons following an already packed work week of 60 hours when I should be doing board games and adventures with the family! So I did a business black-out this weekend. You will also find an "away message" on my LinkedIn messenger šŸ‘‹ I missed four weekend calls and let a few people down after realizing how let down my own family was for my lack of presence. Do I feel terrible for canceling last minute? Of course I do! I'm not one to bail because I loathe being ghosted. But it wasn't nearly as terrible as I felt seeing tears in my son's eyes as he said, "you never want to play with me!" BALANCE is critical, especially as we work remote and find ourselves working MORE than ever! Get your priorities straight and stick to your boundaries. What is at the top of your priority list? 1ļøāƒ£ Family & Friends 2ļøāƒ£ Health 3ļøāƒ£ Happiness 4ļøāƒ£ Branding 5ļøāƒ£ Marketing 6ļøāƒ£ Volunteering 7ļøāƒ£ Speaking 8ļøāƒ£ Social Media Stay healthy. One of my favorite quotes comes from a young Australian poet, Erin Hanson: ā€œWhat if I fail? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?ā€ The question of ā€œWhat if?ā€ speaks to both the fear that paralyzes so many of us as well as the unlimited potential should we allow ourselves to imagine. Here’s how to do the latter: First, get clarity about what you want—and what’s scaring you. You can’t successfully go after what you want until you can clearly articulate what that is. And don’t forget to fess up on what’s been holding you back. It’s okay to gravitate away from something that no longer interests you to move toward something you want. Next, ask yourself: ā€œWhat’s the worst that could happen?ā€ When you work through the worst-case scenario of taking a risky action, you might find that it’s not so bad after all. Often, what we’ve imagined in our heads is far worse than any real-life outcome. This exercise can help you diffuse the fear enough to take action. Finally, think positively and imagine the possibilities. This is the fun part. You’re now free to shift your perspective to the positive and envision your best-case scenario: What if you allowed yourself to consider the infinite possibilities? #leadership #career #mindset …see more

The 20* best (and free) ways to improve your #career : 11. Get creative Ask big questions, pay attention, be open-minded, set aside time to let your mind wander, and don’t be afraid to take risks. 12. Practice empathy Put people first, ask thoughtful and probing questions, listen more and talk less. 13. Be brave enough to use this 4-letter word: help Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness. 14. Change your perspective It’s the lens by which you view everything, and is the quickest path to success & happiness. 15. Embrace 4 words: ā€œIt’s not about youā€ You’ll improve communication, establish trust, deepen relationships & build business. 16. Learn to be more charismatic Its real power has everything to do with how you make others feel. 17. Dare to be a ā€œcareer contrarianā€ Instead of conforming to conventional approaches, education, or paths, seek alternative means to career fulfillment. 18. Focus on attention & trust Kindness and respect ultimately earn attention and trust; be generous. 19. Become an excellent listener Active listening demonstrates respect, builds trust & makes people feel valued. 20. Move past your fear & stop hiding Everything you’ve ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear; it’s time to stop hiding and go for it. #leadership *Part 2 of 2 …see more

āœØāš”ļø 100,000 views on LinkedIn āš”ļøāœØ No, I’m not talking about going viral with one post. This social platform is a volume game of engagement. When we play a game of views... Quantity trumps quality. Quality volume of content comes when you have clarity. A clear brand. A clear message. A clear funnel. (Yes, you can make $ here) Let’s do some basic maths. Within 1 month; Post everyday 30 posts x 3,333 views = 100k Or within 3 months; Post 5x a week 60 posts x 1,667 views = 100k Or with 6 months; Post 2x a week 48 posts x 2,083 views = 100k So, to get 100k views... You need a compelling: šŸ— personal brand šŸ— niche vertical šŸ— consistent content šŸ— audience that loves engaging Or try to go viral with one post... šŸ˜‚ It’s more realistic to play a game of volume. There are other major benefits by creating content: šŸ— You will learn how to market yourself better šŸ— You progressively gain confidence šŸ— You develop communication skills What will do... While entrepreneurship is still super popular, here's a couple reasons why I have immense respect for 9-5 employees: 1ļøāƒ£Most employees have to be good listeners. They often do things because they are told, and while many criticize them for this, I think it takes a ton of humility to know when you should work under someone and just learn. 2ļøāƒ£Many employees take that 9-5 to sustainably support others. Entrepreneurship is risky. There should be no shame for taking the less risky option in the name of supporting you and your family if that's what you are looking for. 3ļøāƒ£What would you add? …see more

Zipline drones populate the Rwandan skyline, portable electrocardiogram machines help doctors diagnose in clinics in rural India, easy testing lets cure children in Botswana. Beyond being brilliant medical innovations, at some point, all these technologies were brought to or should be applied to high-income countries after their success in their original settings in Africa or Asia – as they have been available for a fraction of the cost, they have represented a highly creative solution and/or the regulatory environment has allowed them to thrive. …see more

I receive a lot of questions how I review digital health technologies therefore I have to set the record straight here. I'm always objective in reviews and I never accept payment for them. When I don't like or love something, I'll simply say it out loud. I've tested hundreds of digital health technologies so I have a scale. This is the only way to support patients and physicians who look for reliable sensors for a healthier life. If you develop a technology I should review or come across something exciting, please let me know. https://lnkd.in/gRkivsG #digitalhealth Ā  #technology Ā  #health Ā  #healthcare …see more

Yet another US election narrative in markets this morning to justify the move up in stocks. It’s the 4th or 5th such (serially inconsistent) narrative in the last few weeks. Highlights for me that investors are driven less by politics and more by forces away from that (continuous liquidity conditioning). #markets #investing #economy #bonds #stocks #volatility #investing #economy #bonds #stocks #equities #volatility #fed #centralbanks #economics #federalreserve #ecb #monetarypolicy #elections #election #investors …see more
