I learned a lot about branding at the #UniversalHealthCoverage Forum in Tokyo. Quite often, it’s about far more than just a bright smile or a glossy exterior. If the message doesn't resonate, the packaging can fall flat. Well, I am definitely a convert to the #UHC movement, because the messaging speaks to my life and professional pursuits. It’s about social justice and equity. It’s about humane and ethical policies. And that’s a brand I want to be a part of. The Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases Team was on board with the #WalkTogether movement at #UHCForum2017, as it embodies the spirit of legendary Elder Nelson Mandela, who said, “Health cannot be a question of income. It is a fundamental human right.” …see more

What's an 'optimal asset allocation' when the definitions of asset classes and alternatives are fluid (see previous videos) and choice of models and capital market assumptions arbitrary? My mom used to make my Halloween costumes from scratch... she was a business owner and always on the run taking care of me and my older brothers, but prioritized family and creative values above income and assets. When I told her I wanted to be a PINK version of Jasmine from Aladdin, she spent weeks designing, sewing and perfecting three matching outfits for me and my two friends that I was babysat with 💗 In our careers, we get so caught up in the numbers game, chasing dollars, investments and income... So however you are dealing with your career in combination with stay at home orders and social distancing, don't lose sight of what truly matters. What sets your heart on fire? Family? Nature? Gary Vaynerchuk says it's one of the biggest things to which he attributes his success. Simon Sinek believes it's the most important instrument in a leader's toolbox. And Oprah Winfrey cites it as fundamental to leadership. The secret of their success is something that might surprise you: EMPATHY. This soft skill is often misunderstood and confused with its cousin, sympathy, which is feeling compassion for somebody. But empathy is about putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and seeing things from their perspective. How can YOU be more a more empathetic leader? First, shift your mindset to put people first. See them as human beings rather than a means to the end of a transaction or task. Next, ask thoughtful and probing questions that draw out implications and feelings. Finally, use your awareness to give others your full attention and truly listen to what matters most to them. When you do these things, you’ll better understand your customers, colleagues, and partners, and then be able to use those insights in ways to better serve and communicate with them. And in this way, empathy can give you an edge as a leader—and as a human being. #empathy #leadership #business #success #relationships #communication #growth #softskills #career #HumansFirst #growthmindset …see more
Charisma is more than being engaging or witty. We’re attracted to those who truly listen, who give us their undivided focus and leave us feeling seen and heard. Those who dare to be vulnerable and who genuinely want to connect and share and treat us with respect and kindness. And in return, we offer our unwavering attention and trust. Perhaps at its essence, then, charisma isn’t just about your likability or ability to tell a good story. Instead, its real power has less to do with you and everything to do with how you make others feel. #leadership #charisma #communication …see more

Probably most people at this point agree that the way we "work" will change forever due to the aftermath of this pandemic. There will be significant shift to "remote work" and "work spaces & designs" will be massively changed. Also, there will be a shift to smaller, more local office spaces that enable shorter commutes for employees. Here are 3 ways that office designs will change post-coronavirus, according to the Co-CEOs of the largest architecture firm: shorturl.at/pqNU8 #remotework #workfromhome #officespaces #officedesign #companyHQ #socialdistancing #socialdistancing2020 #coronaviruspandemic #pandemicplanning #postcoronavirus …see more

I started testing this pulse oximeter and will come back with the findings next week. The oxygen levels in the blood of COVID-19 patients can drop to dangerously low levels without them noticing, also known as "silent hypoxia". As a result, patients have been arriving in hospital in far worse health than they realised and, in some cases, too late for effective treatment. A pulse oximeter allows patients to monitor their oxygen levels at home, and costs about £20. #pulseoximeter #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #COVID19 #COVID_19 #coronavirus …see more
