If you ask the average person what the opposite of distraction is, they might use the f-word. That's right, they might tell you the opposite of distraction is “focus.” ...but the truth is, that isn’t exactly right. The opposite of distraction is traction -- and here's why 👇👇👇 The words “distraction” and “traction” both come from the same Latin root,“trahare,” meaning “to pull.” “Distraction” and “traction” also end in the same six letters: A-C-T-I-O-N. Traction, by definition, is any ACTION that pulls you TOWARD things you do with intent. The opposite of traction? DIS-traction. Distraction is any action that pulls you AWAY from what you planned to do. These are things that move us away from our values. These are things done WITHOUT intent. In order to understand whether or not something is a distraction, you have to ask yourself: Is this what I planned to do with my time? If you're catching up on emails at the dinner table when you planned to have a family meal, that's distraction. If you planned to check email at your desk and start checking the news, that’s also a distraction.
