Run, from Run DMC, was annoyed at his wife, Justine. Maybe even afraid. So I pushed it. I pushed it too far. I spent hours in front of a mirror when I was a little kid. 1982. Moving one joint at a time. Because I wanted girls to like me. Fingers down, then knuckles, then wrist (my dad would tell me at that point, "you can tell me if you're gay"). Then elbow, shoulder, down through my leg, up through the other leg, and then back to the fingers in the other arm. A wave. . . . #hiphop #writing #entrepreneur #breakdance #lifestyle …see more

I told her I would never write about her again. The first time I wrote about her was in 2009. I met her in a bookstore and she was drawing and I was attracted to her. I asked her what she was drawing. She told me her whole story. And then a week later I wrote about it. That same day I got my first death threat. “I could kill you for writing about her.” I apologized to her. We met. I asked her out. She said no. “You’re too old for me.” Which I was. …see more

HOW STEVE MARTIN CHOSE HIMSELF...(THE ONE CRITICAL TRICK) PLUS....A PARTY! TONIGHT! COMEDY! DRINKS ON ME! FIRST OF MANY! LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS.  PLUS...HOW I'M TAKING STEVE MARTIN'S ADVICE Steve Martin, oner of the greatest comedians, actors, writers of the past fifty years CHOSE HIMSELF.  He was the opening act for large bands that filled stadiums. But nobody wanted to see him. The audience wanted the bands or the headlining acts.  Steve Martin was opening to packed stadiums but building zero audience and going nowhere.  So he started renting out smaller venues and made himself the headliner.  He created his venue. He created his audience bit by bit. He eventually filled stadiums. But this time with HIS audience.  I am taking his advice.  So..TONIGHT (Wednesday) at 7:30 (very limited space) at "Ferns" on 10th and 1st in NYC.  COMEDY AND FREE DRINKS ON ME. Plus...Q&A if there's time. NO TICKETS. Just show up and everything on me.  I want to see you there. And I'll have a new party and new place every few weeks from now on until I die.  I want to every day do something that let's me choose myself more and more. This is freedom and pleasure and love. …see more

Crazy idea.... until we move beyond passwords and use better things like Fingerprints, why don't all sites adopt the same criteria for complexity?

PLANNING AND PRIORITIZING ARE ENERGY-INTENSIVE TASKS It is hard to do either well after your brain has been engaged for a period of time. Make one difficult decision, like what do you need to do first today, and the next one is more difficult. Your best quality thinking lasts for only a limited time.

My TEDx Talk recently hit 100K views! Thank for all the support! 🥂 How did that happen? 🌏 Design a talk of value for a global audience – avoid activities that only an in-person audience can see and do. Don't alienate viewers at home! 🙂 Keep the talk visually packed – use less words and more symbols and imagery. Sentences and paragraphs distract viewers as we all tend to read ahead rather than listening first. 💃 Make it memorable – stand out by doing something unconventional, but personal. In my case, I introduced emojis as a strategy to humanize a personal brand. 👪 Share share share – this includes your mom, dad, siblings, best friend, and your community. You're in control of your talk, so roll up the sleeves and share. 📰 Media – consider sharing your talk with journalists and contributors who may benefit from sharing your talk with their audience. Thanks for the support Dakota Shane  and Áine Cain  for Inc and Business Insider features! 🚀 Turn your TEDx into something bigger – from the TEDx stage to the Apple Podcast app, I've transformed my talk into a podcast series (Zero to Infinity)! #BeInfinity Once again, thanks for the tremendous support! …see more

Doing a day of admin. It’s amazing how many things that would be done far faster, far more securely, far far more efficiently with a 20 word email and a 10 word email reply, that instead are 8 min phone calls with personal details shouted out in public after being on hold for 10 mins. We seem to think we live in the future but I spent 30 mins doing paperwork to send a paper booklet with ink stamps back to the UK to be replaced by another pile of paper. Why are passports and visas not just permissions in the cloud. I waited 45 mins to check into a hotel because the best hotel booking app around ( Hotel Tonight) uses fax machines send booking details. I’m struggling to get Health insurance as the world isn’t set up for people who dare to travel between states a lot, it’s the same with taxation laws. I wish we could get as excited about tech from 1995 and apply it now , before we get lost and distracted on blockchain. …see more

I just had to take some time out from holiday merriment to share this post. Like millions of people around the world, I'm stunned and saddened by the passing of George Michael at just 53 years old. Call me a severely late bloomer, but I feel like I'm just hitting my stride at 55. Michael's incredible legacy of music and memories are an appropriate tribute, but this lesson that Frank Sinatra taught him also provides a potent reminder about the responsibility that comes with success--and the need for gratitude. RIP, George Michael. …see more

Lots of people ask me why I left Amazon. Chief among the reasons: to revolutionize manufacturing and build an industry giant in the process. After 6 successful releases of our 1.0.n software stack, I'm incredibly proud to announce the arrival of our 2.0 foundational release, as well as the concept of "Microfactories". Today, we are successfully delivering on the promise of bringing cloud-based, AI-powered software and flexible hardware to manufacturing, and democratizing manufacturing as a whole. Hundreds of #brightpeople at Bright Machines worked tirelessly on all aspects of this release - from the cutting edge hardware and robotics, to the innovative software. This release only happened because of them. So incredibly proud of this team!! We're grateful to be first to get here, and will continue to relentlessly push the innovation envelope. We are also humbly aware that this is, and remains, Day One. #ai #robotics #cultureofinnovation #innovative #dayone #hiring #stayhungry …see more
