As we get to contemplate this chance to make lasting bold changes to aspects to our lives, the big opportunity few dare mention is how to rethink life with mental health and physical health as a massive priority. We expected workers immediately jump to spend 9 hours a day on Zoom calls without any consideration. If Health and safety is a key legal and moral obligation of employers, what about our mental health and safety? What about helping with boundaries between work and life? What about providing support for exercise? Given the degree to which the current environment has shone a light on obesity as well as mental health, it would be great to see a shift towards holistic health as part of the “new normal” . We should also understand there is perhaps no greater productivity tool than almost any form of exercise. …see more
I’m always more interested in the boring technology that’s actually a big difference in the world vs the fascinating technology that’s not. It’s things like LED’s, Battery power, Solar Generation, Spatial mapping that should get way way more attention. But instead it’s nonsense like BlockChain, 5G, AI, or IOT, 3D printing that get all the attention People often ask me what the most exciting technology there is today, I think it’s the mobile phone, because we’re only about 5% into the process of rethinking what the world could be like around it. Its amazing how much effort is often put into best solving a problem that has not had much effort put into trying to understand it.
I have this unshakable belief that we're all a bit screwed because we consider media to be "good quality" when it align most closely with our existing beliefs. Everything that makes us think we don't understand everything perfectly, or see another worldview, we place to one side every bit as quickly a as any google search result that doesn't fit the answer we were trying to validate.
