Stop making flawed assumptions when you delegate a task. Ask yourself, “Where am I making assumptions about the skills and knowledge of the person to whom I am delegating this task or project? Have I assumed that they are clear on the goals of the project?” Check your assumptions. I’m very pleased to announce the launch of the McKinsey Design Index, which rates companies by how strong they are at design and—for the first time—how that links up with the financial performance of each company. From Wallpaper: “The top 25 per cent of scorers in the McKinsey Design Index achieved an average revenue growth of 32 per cent higher than their peers, as well as 56 per cent higher in Total Return to Shareholders. The moral of the story here suggests that top management should consider and embrace design early in the process in order for a business to benefit from it. The weird thing about NPS is that it’s used to award bonuses and benchmark success , but literally never to improve. What nutty times were in when we care about understanding precisely how we are doing, but don’t care for one moment about how to respond to customers immediately or improve over the long term. It’s monumentally cynical of companies to even consider using it
